Jeep® Will Hold A Press Conference At The New York International Auto Show On April 13th!

We Expect The Hurricane H.O. & Long Wheelbase Models To Take Center Stage...

Over the past several months, we have been talking about the Jeep® brand’s intentions of showing off some new products at this month’s New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Those new products will be focused on Jeep’s premium Wagoneer lineup. Today, we are learning that the Jeep brand will hold a 20-minute press conference at the NYIAS show, on Wednesday, April 13th, beginning at 9:20 a.m. EST.

We expect there to be two big product announcements, during the press conference.

Hurricane H.O. Engine –

The first is likely to be the announcement that the entire Grand Wagoneer lineup, will now be able to be configured with the all-new high-output (H.O.) version of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter “Hurricane” or GME-T6 inline-six-cylinder engine. Jeep accidentally leaked that the engine will be a $2,000 USD upgrade over the 6.4-liter HEMI V8, across the Grand Wagoneer lineup. It will NOT, however, be available on the Wagoneer.

According to our sources, the Hurricane H.O. engine will have a rating of 507 horsepower and 475 ft.-lb. of torque. That is 36 more horsepower and 20 more ft.-lb. of torque, then the 6.4-liter HEMI V8. It should continue to be mated to a ZF-sourced 8HP TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission as the HEMI.

Long-Wheelbase Models –

The second big announcement should be the introduction of the long-wheelbase (LWB) of both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer.

Already larger than their standard-wheelbase competitors, the Wagoneer duo will grow even larger going into the 2023 model year. We can expect most of the same option and trim package to carry right over from the standard-wheelbase models.

Expect the Wagoneer twins to feature best-in-class third-row and behind the third-row room.
