Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Now Qualifies For Canada Tax Rebate:

Its been a tough few weeks for the employees at the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Windsor Assembly Plant. The plant is home of the Chrysler Pacifica and Dodge Grand Caravan. With the sales of the Chrysler Pacifica at an all-time low, FCA and Unifor (the general trade union in Canada) have been doing what they can to boost sales of the Canadian-made Chrysler minivan, and it looks like it worked.

The Chrysler Pacifica now qualifies for the Canadian federal government’s zero-emissions rebate program. Initially, when the federal budget was released back on March 19th, the original provision included a $5,000 (all dollar figures are in Canadian) rebate for any zero-emission vehicles under $45,000. However, the plug-in Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid did not qualify for the program, due to its starting price of over $51,000.

Unifor members, the Windsor Member of Parliament (MP), and several Windsor citizens protested the decision not to include the only Canadian manufactured product that could have made the list. Now the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Navdeep Bains announced late last month that the program would include the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.
