Charger Daytona delayed? Prototypes supposedly failing.

Is TK's Garage a reliable source? Or just another wishful clickbait??
 
If they decide to offer a V8 again in anything other than Ram 2500, are they going to upgrade the current design and solve the inherited design issues? Or are they going to design a Gen-IV from the scratch?

What design issues? Are you talking about the valvetrain/lifter ticking that's caused by the multiple changes to increasingly thin oils over the years despite not changing the engine internals? That's not an inherent engine design issue in my opinion. That's a product of trying to please the EPA and save your company money, hoping the engines will make it to the end of warranty. Guys who use 5W30 or 5W40 synthetics from the start rarely have any issues from the 5.7L engine.

Where can they get a big V8 in car at GM? other than the Corvette.... GM is way head on the EV and small displacement engine process then STLA and they are turning record profits.

I get that people like the marketed idea of a V8 but reality is for 95% of all Mopar if you put a plastic cover on the i6 that said Hemi V8 they would say it is the best thing since sliced bread.

Other than Camaro which still sold as new until a few months ago? Or Cadillac CTS-V and others? And of course, GM's bread and butter is the SUV/truck line which still have V8s and will get a new generation of V8s in the next few years.

The Mopar I-6TT with it's check engine lights, electrical issues, turbo lag, lawn mower sound quality, and difficulty of modification or maintenance for enthusiasts would never pass with a Hemi engine cover. Come on. You think buyers are really that shallow? If sales numbers for Stellantis over the last two years don't prove how buyers feel about the V8 engines going away then I don't know what does.

The Camaro sold new and Caddy sold new where like Charger and Challengers sold new.

And pretend the Eagles start up and ongoing durability issue especially with the value train we rumor is some of the biggest Gaslighting ever on this Forum.

Knowing Stellantis STLA LG is just a hacked up LX platform, so yes, probably.

I want to see a V8 in this car as much or more than anyone else, but I don't see it happening, at least not anytime soon. I can say that a Gen 3 Hemi will fit between the shock towers of the new Charger, but they also don't produce Gen 3 Hemis anymore aside from the HD truck 6.4, which is getting some upgrades for the 2025 model year but not expected to make any more power. From what I've been told, the existing Hemi production line has been shut down and converted over to hurricane production. Could they potentially engineer a variant of the truck 6.4 for the car? Possibly depending on whether there is production capacity to add that engine on, AND unless it got basically a complete overhaul, which it wouldn't it would get its ass kicked up and down the street by the Hurricane HO anyways which wouldn't make the V8 guys happy anyways.

They needed to start developing a new generation V8 years ago, and if they had had a full product portfolio with efficient vehicles, that would have offset their keeping the V8 alive in certain products. Say they were to start developing an all-new V8 now, it would be years until we would see them in production. Keep in mind I was writing about the Hurricane back in 2019.

Right from this site a few years back they were working on the 7.0L / 426 and then it was dropped for the Hurricane as the 'cane made more power. To bring it back it would have to be base 300hp, 420hp R/T hurricane, 550hp Scat pack hurricane and then XXXHP supercharged 426 Hemi as the top dog. I know they plan on making the banshee the top dog but everything is pointing to it being a flop. You can buy a Lucid that is quicker than the plaid, and nobody cares (nobody cares about the plaid anymore, tbh). You'll see pivots from Mopar soon on this - they already said there will be changes after Trump got elected

Are those emissions targets not just a stroke of a pen though? They say day 1 Keystone XL is back on with gov't backing. If not, they are very poorly managed and set up for the next 12 years. I still think its possible Stellantis gets broken up, Musk oversees Mopar until proper suitors step up to take it over as a the real Chrysler Corporation again. Just a hunch, and a strong one. They never needed a European partner - ever. Rid that sh!t

Because French and Italian are easier to learn than Japanese and Chinese.

7.0 wasn’t dropped to develop Hurricane, Hurricane has been in development for at least a decade.

It first showed not long after Hellcat debuted

Why isnt he being vocal about the company being run into the ground. He had lots to say after Daimler and Cerberus - his voice has weight and he could help get Tavares ousted quicker.
 
Ralph doesn’t have that much pull. He’s a design guy, when he was given a brand to run, it didn’t go well and was folded back in.

I like Ralph, he’s one of the good guys, but he doesn’t have the weight to throw around

Good point on the 5.7. Everything you've said is the most reasonable assessment of the situation but, as you also said, they are in a horrible spot business-wise and as the saying goes - desperate times call for desperate measures. The Hurricanes are unproven whereas the Hemi is - and the demand is there. Having a halo-Hemi like a new Hellcat in a few years could help with credibility.

Likely he likes his job, isn't xenophobic, and doesn't agree with your assessment. Most of the North American issue have little to do with Travares and lie directly at the feet of his former collogues and the merger. Currently a soft economy, bad product mix, and being (9 to 16month) behind on product launches starving the dealer for product mix have little to do with Travares those were inherited, and he is retiring anyway.
 
Lots of problems - right from an anonymous employee in Windsor

Didn't watch the video but they're still having software problems and a few other issues.

I know exactly where that thumbnail picture was taken. OK to ship hasn't happened yet and likely won't until mid December at the earliest so they'll continue to stock up in shipping lots until then.

Edited to add: I just finished the video and that's definitely a 100% legit email OCMotivator is reading, and everything in it is factual.
