BREAKING: Windsor Will Begin Building A New Electrified Vehicle In 2024:

Interestingly Kunisks admitts in that interview that there were re-designs for release a few years ago and even test mules of them but they scrapped them. I heard from a very good source that these were seen by a certain large law enforcement org a few years ago and they handled "phenomenally". He also mentioned the revolutionary redesign shown to dealers in 2015 - also scrapped. I wonder how much money they've wasted the past few years on things like this.
Its not a waste it is the typical development cycle, IT look like funnel, there are more iterations at the top and only what clears all the development hurdles comes out the bottom

Well, if it didn't directly lead to the coming product it could be considered a waste. I also recall being rebuked about test mules existing when I mentioned it here - pleased to be vindicated now. All that aside, I think this was a really insightful interview although I wish we had more info about the ICE cars or PHEV. Dodge is really pushing the idea that Challenger, 4 door Charger and ICE motors are gone (I'm with the insiders that isn't the case).

The new cars were to come out in 2018 but they got delayed/axed. I think the giorgio car he was talking about may have been the barracuda they showed dealers back in 2013 (rejected by dealers). They probably had a mocked up challenger and charger as well. They showed a new charger to dealers and it was received with a "standing ovation" was probably the 2018 car.

I heard it was supposed to be a 2019 refresh and then a 2021 new model. Either way, wish we got them!

They never said there would be not ice... they are allowing people to read things into what isn't said to sell existing cars.

That's not how Gate system Product development works, just because something doesn't lead directly to a product doesn't mean it has no value. Those statements are so foreign to the proper development of good and ROI products I don't know where to start, it would take a hours or almost a class to explain it. I don't have the time or the will to got through it other than that is simply not how the world works. Large number of proposals start at the top, and at the end the what can be make through all the gates filter at the bottom.

And WAIT we are Mad we didn't get the New Car sooner, or we are Mad the Old car is going away? Sales have been limited to capacity and margins keep going up. They are doing Unbelievable, job keeping them fresh along the way now building excitement to drive margins up too the end.

Imagine when they pull an upper hock on the Mustang and come out with an ICE that is not only more efficient but also out perform it.
The PR they are pulling now is a risky business and create anticipation.

Kokomo is where that transmission will have to be built to properly supply the transmission, right next to the battery factory.
My bad🤭, I forgot about this. Last year at this time Mopar Insiders posted a news item that the Tipton Indiana plant was to undergo retooling for the next generation of rear drive 8-speed automatics including hybrid variants. So while ZF is tooling up in Grey Court, Stellantis is doing the same thing in Tipton. I don't know how many variants there will be, or what the differences are.

They are doing a extremely good job at keeping these next gen cars a secret no spy shots no nothing!

Unless it hiding right there as the show car. How many running around as Stelvios, Grand Cherokees, Maseratis, and Giulias at night?

None of the vehicles you referenced are running around as LB and LF powertrain mules outside of CTC or Chelsea. LB/LF are late, job 1 isn't until 2024. There is going to be a gap between when the current vehicles end and when Job 1 for LB/LF begins. How big that gap is - who knows. The plan was to pump out so many of the existing vehicles that it wouldnt be noticed on the lots but with Brampton down for two weeks, who the hell knows. Inexcusable for a non-48V platform that's been in Production for seven years.

ICE LB/LF won't be intro'ed until late 2023, maybe at the Dream Cruise, but probably October/November. They will build the current vehicles as 23 MY until 2023-12-31.

inline engines are not more complex than V engines. Turbo are mostly piping and one the easiest ways to make power so that part of the article is wrong.

I really hope Dodge would use an electric turbo, similar to Maserati, on PHEV version.

An electric turbo is a turbo charger with a supplemental electric motor to either spool up the turbo at low RPMs and can also be used to charge batteries using the exhaust gases. An e-charger, on the other hand, is a super charger driven by an electric motor. This device will provide boost at low RPM to allow a turbo motor to use the Miller cycle. I think the Maserati uses an e-booster.

Dude, you are being too technical.

Yes the correct technical term is e-booster or electric supercharger.

The electric turbo you are referring to is similar to the one in AMG.

There are people who will scream blasphemy if there is a four cylinder in a future Challenger or Charger, but a 330hp GME hybrid sounds like a decent setup for entry level.
Performance Turbo fours will never be Blasphemy as long as there NA V6 tooling around waiting for a transplant some day in the future. :D just sayin.

Hearing the base version will have a mild hybrid - some sort of 3-4KW battery. Performance unlocking via software if you wanna pay for more power later. That’s the angle they’re playing to try and keep the young Dodge demographic - if you don’t have the money for the horsepower now, buy it later with the Dodge app.

There are going to be many hybrid electrified power train variants of the I6 - mild and PHEV.

Horsepower unlocking between both is all done with software.

Meh, all this software headcount working on low FICO score buyers when they could bet on the 45th President returning, and continue to build V8s (is the cost complexity vs the paid off tooling really worth it at this point? Or this is all just to pay a stupid tithe to Europe for stupid carbon credits?)

You know what these software people could be doing instead? Lithography and chip design at sub 45nm so they aren’t completely over a barrel via TSMC and the wholesalers they buy from.

Whoever buys a V6 Charger and Challenger is not looking for performance, but style.
Mustang Ecoboost 4 cylinder take-rate over the V6 proved that.

And global mustang sales are what compared to Charger/Challenger sales?

Please do not reference the Europoors and weak Americans with their lame mule and ecofart powertrain here, this is a Patriots in Control forum.
