BREAKING: Windsor Will Begin Building A New Electrified Vehicle In 2024:

I love V8's, I daily drive one, but how many people would line up for a next generation $100K hellcat that gets beaten by mundane EV's? Not many. And Dodge knows that. The TRX cant even outrun a base model Lightning and its only going to get worse.
 
Battery Electric Vehicles are quick, but not fast. Plus, if you have a low social credit score your range will be very limited. One way to get a low social credit rating is to point out the human cost of extracting the raw materials for the batteries when using social media. OS!:oops:
 
Still waiting to hear on who -

1) Will maintain the chemistry for replacement batteries after the battery chemistry has moved on
2) Who will make the cells for out of date batteries
3) Who will make the packs
4) How the OEMs will open source the software so that 3rd parties can make the cells/packs (cheaper, because there no way the Koreans are going to support these batteries forever - its gotta come from a 3rd party) because the interface between the batteries/vehicle software is highly priorietary
5) Who is going to build support chips/electronics over 10 years because EVs contain 5x as many chips as the same ICE vehicle

You add a transmission and they will be fast also. If SCS is low the power won't come to even charge it.

Entrepreneurs. There will be battery shops all over the place, the private sector will handle it just like they always do.
 
I'll have to back track a little bit to clarify my position. I'm not opposed to battery electric vehicles. I am opposed to this idea of battery electric vehicles as a panacea, with government mandates forcing everyone to comply. The upcoming electric ProMaster looks to be a winner. Such a vehicle makes sense because a fleet can have their own charging infrastructure. Even a private solitary commercial van should have the opportunity to be charged overnight with a level 2 charging station. A city car like the Fiat 500e also is practical because of its size and efficiency. It has less batterie capacity to "fill up" and can be charged with level 2 charger, in a reasonable amount of time. An apartment dweller should be able to find such charging in the urban environment if they don't have a driveway or garage.

I forgot that the Dodge EV concept has a transmission. That is a game changer. I hope any Abarth product based on the Fiat 500e will also have some type of transmission setup.

The Chrysler Airflow (or whatever it is named) should be successful if the brand follows the formula used for the outgoing 300 sedan. That is different trims and option packages with some approaching affordability. Yes I know that BEVs are more expensive than their ICE cousins, but some are willing to forgo the dual motors for simplicity. The same can be said of the upcoming Dodge EVs.

So, there doesn't appear to be a hybrid Hurricane in the pipeline and some are saying the Dodge BEVs are going to be late. I know this is blasphemy, but there is a 330hp mild hybrid version of the 2 liter GME four cylinder used in some Maseratis. Jeep also packed as much power for the GME in a few of their concepts. Like the new Fiat 500e, the STLA large platform will be designed with battery placement built in. A hybrid or plugin hybrid Challenger or Charger with the GME four could easily hold the fort until the fully electric models ramp up. The room for hybrid batteries is available, If people want more power there is always the Hurricane six.

Lets be real. Jeep is building and selling rear drive based PHEV products right now. Supplies are limited by ZF's production capacity and that should change by the end of next year. There will be products to fill in the gap.
 
Kokomo is where that transmission will have to be built to properly supply the transmission, right next to the battery factory.

They keeping the nameplates, people get confuse by “banshee”.
Tim did talk continuing about not playing in “commodity vehicles” , not buying Marketshare, and the need of getting vehicles in the lineup.

Now Tim did hint at subscriptions when he discussed two different power levels with same trim/equipment.
 
Interestingly Kunisks admitts in that interview that there were re-designs for release a few years ago and even test mules of them but they scrapped them. I heard from a very good source that these were seen by a certain large law enforcement org a few years ago and they handled "phenomenally". He also mentioned the revolutionary redesign shown to dealers in 2015 - also scrapped. I wonder how much money they've wasted the past few years on things like this.
