The Brazilian-built 2024 Ram Rampage compact pickup is potentially coming to the North America in 2025. The Rampage doesn’t compromise on the opulent features typical of full-size trucks. This compact pickup shares its underlying architecture with the Jeep® Compass and Commander, blending functionality with capability.
We showed you a photo of a new Big Horn model caught testing in Brazil on Wednesday. We were sent photos of another Ram Rampage Big Horn a day later, but this time, it was caught stateside in Michigan. Showing us, the Ram engineers continue to test the compact pickup on American roads, something we don’t see much of for Brazilian-manufactured models. Giving us the notion that Ram is not testing the unibody-based pickup for just South American roads.
Although Ram has chosen to keep details about the Rampage’s prospective North American debut under wraps, the mounting sightings of these compact powerhouses being put through their paces on American soil strongly suggest that the company is seriously considering this strategic move. As we bid farewell to the aging Ram 1500 Classic, which is set to exit the market by year-end, the Rampage emerges as a potential solution to fill the void.
Anticipation builds as the Rampage gears up to take on rivals in the compact truck segment, particularly the popular Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz. These sightings and whispers allude to a bright future for this dynamic pickup, with the potential to captivate North American audiences.
Under the hood, the North American version is anticipated to house the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder engine, known as the Hurricane4, a proud member of the Stellantis Global Medium Engine (GME) family. This powerhouse, already proven in various North American vehicles, boasts an impressive output of 272 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, positioning it as a potential frontrunner in its class. Paired with a ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel-drive (4×4) system, the Rampage promises an exhilarating and capable driving experience.
Enthusiasm is palpable as we eagerly await the arrival of this truck, set to offer Ram enthusiasts an enticing sub-$50K option without sacrificing an inch of style or utility. With dimensions thoughtfully designed to comfortably fit within most garages, the Ram Rampage is poised to redefine expectations in the compact pickup realm.
