Begins After A Successful 1st Edition Launch...

January was an important month for the all-new Jeep® Avenger (JJ). After being named 2023 ‘European Car of the Year’, January 31st marked the start of regular production for the American brand’s first 100% electric SUV at the Stellantis Assembly Plant in Tychy, Poland

“The new Jeep Avenger is the first Jeep SUV to be produced in Poland, and it is a great source of pride for our pride for our entire team. We start 2023 with the start of production of a vehicle that has already earned recognition from customers and industry experts,” said Tomasz Gębka, Director of the Stellantis Tychy Plant. “We appreciate the great interest in this unique model of the Jeep brand, which offers many cutting-edge technology features. For our part, our team at Tychy will add in additional value to you: the highest level of quality.”

The introduction of the Jeep Avenger in Europe marks the beginning of the next phase of the electrification of the Jeep brand that will see the arrival of four all-electric vehicles on the market by 2025. By the end of 2030, European sales of the Jeep brand will be 100% purely electric.

The new Avenger is a compact SUV that synthesizes the Jeep DNA in four meters in length and positions itself in the B-UV segment, fast growing and second in Europe by volume. Avenger therefore offers the typical performance of Jeep in a compact format to ensure maximum peace of mind in all conditions. It is in fact the first Jeep front-wheel drive SUV equipped as standard with the Selec-Terrain® and Hill Descent Control systems that, together with the exceptional angles of attack (20°) and exit (32°) and ground clearance (7.87 inches), introduce extraordinary levels of off-road capacity into the segment.

Agile, capable on the road and off road and pleasant to drive, it guarantees dynamic performance thanks to its instant pair and stands out for its quietness. The new SUV is aimed at active people looking for a vehicle with a compact size and state-of-the-art technological characteristics: it adopts a new electric powertrain that combines a unique 400-volt electric motor with 115 kW (154 horsepower) and 260 Nm (191 lb.-ft.) of maximum torque and a new 54 kWh battery. The electric range reaches up to 400 kilometers (249 miles) in the WLTP cycle and exceeds 550 kilometer (342 miles) in the city*.

Presented on October 17th, 2022 at the Paris Motor Show and crowned 2023 ‘European Car of the Year’ at the Brussels Motor Show on January 13th, the Avenger immediately aroused enormous interest and very favorable comments. The praise of the criticism was soon confirmed by the intense interest of the customers. In less than 3 months of booking opening for the exclusive 1st Edition, the fully equipped launch version, over 10,000 units have been sold. Since January 11th, European customers have been able to order the entire lineup of options.

But between 1972 and 1975, the Tychy Assembly Plant adopts a two-shift system and employs more than 2,000 people. The product portfolio of the plant included three models that won “European Car of the Year” award, including the new Avenger. Production is based on the ‘Stellantis Production Way’ system, which enables the factory to carry out its activities effectively in all areas, including quality and energy efficiency, with the full involvement of employees.

The production cycle of the plant includes four divisions: the molding plant, operated by an external supplier; the welding workshop, 99.5% automated thanks to 930 robots; the painting department, more than 90% automated, and assembly, which includes two production lines and one battery assembly line. Since the start of production in 1975, until December 2022, the Tychy plant has produced an extraordinary number of vehicles: 10.8 million.
