Next-Gen Jeep® Compass (J4U) Teased in Stellantis AI Video

The next-generation Jeep® Compass (J4U) has surfaced in a Stellantis video discussing artificial intelligence, offering the first technical glimpses of the upcoming compact SUV. The video, titled “TechTalks with Ned Curic: Ep.1 – AI,“ features Stellantis Chief Engineering and Technology Officer Ned Curic and provides insight into how AI is shaping the automotive industry. However, eagle-eyed viewers at the 1:20 mark noticed CAD (computer-aided design) images of the highly anticipated Compass, confirming its design proportions and some key details.

A Critical Launch for Jeep® – 

The Compass has been a major player for Jeep in global markets, and with this being the first all-new version in nearly a decade, its 2025 launch carries significant weight. Stellantis has indicated that the SUV will debut in April for Europe, followed by a mid-year unveiling in South America, and a late-year reveal for North America. Production for the North American model is slated to begin in Q1 2026.

European models will be built at the Melfi Assembly Plant in Italy, alongside four other vehicles on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform. This flexible architecture supports internal combustion engines (ICE), hybrid, and battery-electric vehicle (BEV) variants, giving the new Compass a diverse range of powertrain options depending on the market.

First Look at Design and Weight – 

Back in October, Jeep released a teaser showcasing a more squared-off and rugged design for the new Compass. The latest Stellantis AI video further confirms the SUV’s proportions, suggesting a broader stance and a tougher Jeep identity. While the CAD images don’t reveal intricate design details, they do give a preview of its overall form.

One of the most eye-catching revelations in the video is a weight listing for the BEV model, labeled as “J4U BEV Mass 2,470 kg (5,445 lbs).” This substantial weight suggests a large battery pack, likely prioritizing range and performance.

What to Expect Under the Hood – 

The new Compass will offer a variety of powertrains, with Europe expected to receive options similar to the Peugeot 3008, which also rides on the STLA Medium platform. The range will likely include mild-hybrid gasoline engines, plug-in hybrids, and a full BEV variant. Jeep’s 4xe technology will continue to be a key feature, ensuring that electrified versions maintain the brand’s off-road capability.
