Jeep® Recalls 2016 Wrangler Sport RHD For Driver Airbag Issue

Clockspring May Fail, Preventing Driver's Airbag From Deploying...

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 1,831 right-hand drive (RHD) 2016 Jeep® Wrangler (JK) vehicles due to an issue that may prevent the driver’s side airbag from deploying in a crash.

2016 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited Sport 4×4. (Jeep).

According to the recall, debris contamination may cause the clockspring to fail, preventing the driver’s airbag from deploying in a crash. Some 2016 RHD models may have been built with a clockspring design that allows dust/debris to enter the mechanism, and they may experience a clockspring failure. An airbag that does not deploy in a crash can increase the risk of injury.

The suspect period began on May 3rd, 2016, when Wrangler RHDs may have been produced with suspect parts, and ended on September 16th, 2016, when vehicle production stopped for the 2016 Jeep Wrangler RHD. The vehicle population was determined using vehicle production records.
