The success of the Jeep® 4xe technology continues in Italy, as the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) lineup dominated the Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) market in July obtaining a share of 20.6% of the segment. We should mention that the LEV segment includes both PHEVs and battery-electric vehicles (BEVs). The result is consistent with the brand’s leadership in 2021, confirmed during the company’s first-half results last week.
The success of the Jeep 4xe range is thanks to the “Made in Italy” Renegade 4xe (the best-selling rechargeable vehicle in its segment) and the Compass 4xe (the best-selling LEV and vehicle in its segment). The iconic American-built Wrangler Unlimited 4xe also played its part. Soon the 4xe lineup will be extended with the arrival of the new Grand Cherokee 4xe.
During the month of July, over 500 customers in Italy purchased their 4xe vehicle online. The contribution of the dealer network is crucial in this new process, always at the center of the purchase and delivery process and assisting during the user experience.
“This result is important as it once again underlines the brand’s commitment to building a zero-emission future, a mission called Zero-Emission Freedom, which started two years ago with the launch of the Renegade and Compass 4xe, and has continued recently with the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe and [the soon to be available] Grand Cherokee 4xe,” stated Alessandro Grosso, Country Manager Jeep Italy. “Each of these launches represents an important moment in the evolution process of the brand, which turns towards the electrification of the entire range precisely to underline its vocation to overcome limits and move on every terrain, in an increasingly sustainable way. 4xe is now a brand within the brand, recognized as synonymous with maximum comfort, total safety, efficiency, and fun to drive. We also continue to explore new avenues not only in terms of products: we work to anticipate the wishes of our customers, satisfy their every need, and excel in all the qualitative indicators of the customer journey, but also through an online shopping experience, to respond to the most advanced mobility needs.”
While one in two Jeep customers opts for a 4xe model in Italy, the introduction of the new Renegade and Compass e-Hybrid front-wheel-drive (FWD) models means that 70% of the vehicles sold in Italy by Jeep are electrified.
