The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 is now the world’s fastest and most powerful muscle car, boasting a whopping 1,025 horsepower. This special-edition model was unveiled at the Dodge Last Call Powered by Roadkill Nights Vegas festival, which took place last month at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
One of the event’s attendees was Jay Leno, a comedian, and avid car collector, who initially struggled to answer a question about his favorite Dodge “Last Call” car during the live stream of the unveiling.
However, Leno redeemed himself in the latest episode of his show, Jay Leno’s Garage, where he became one of the first civilians outside of Stellantis to test drive the car. Equipped with a HEMI® engine that can produce 945 lb.-ft. of torque, the Demon 170 can reach 60 mph in just 1.66 seconds and has the highest G-force acceleration of any production car at 2.004 gs. On E10 fuel, it can even achieve 900 horsepower and 810 lb.-ft. of torque.
During the show, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis showcased some of the Demon 170’s features, such as the Mickey Thompson street-legal drag radials and the carbon-fiber wheels from Lacks Enterprises. He also revealed that the company loses money on every car fitted with carbon wheels.
It’s also worth noting that each Demon 170 will come with a selection of premium car care products from Leno’s own Jay Leno’s Garage detail line.
Overall, Leno appeared to have had a great time driving the Demon 170 around the streets of Burbank.
