Here Is Everything New On The 2022 Jeep® Grand Cherokee L (WL75)!

A Few New Features Have Been Added...

The Jeep® brand has finally officially announced its changes to the three-row 2022 Grand Cherokee L (WL75), just days after both MoparInsiders.com and its sister site WLJeepForum.com broke the news a few of the upcoming changes in recent days. The changes for the Grand Cherokee L include Amazon Fire TV for Auto capability, the new 10.25-inch front passenger touchscreen display, two new dark appearance packages, and a few new exterior colors to the lineup for 2022.

Fire TV for Auto builds on the Fire TV experience that exists today with unique features that include:

  • Passengers can view Fire TV in high definition from the rear seats and the front passenger screen (a privacy filter disables driver viewing). When the vehicle is in park, the driver also can view the Fire TV on the main Uconnect 5 screen.
  • Touchscreen controls and support for compatible content can be downloaded on trips where wireless service is limited or to save on data.
  • A Fire TV for Auto-specific remote provides control of the experience and includes push-to-talk access to Alexa, making it easy to find and quickly play shows.
  • The remote includes a button that connects Fire TV with the new Uconnect 5 system for control of vehicle features, such as climate, maps, and more.

10.25-Inch Front Passenger Touchscreen Screen –

The 10.25-inch passenger screen has four major functions – Co-Pilot (navigation, device management), entertainment (via HDMI or Rear Seat Entertainment control), Fire TV for Auto, and the ability to view the exterior vehicle cameras. The passenger screen features an HDMI plug, which lets occupants connect their phone or tablet, turning the touchscreen into a mirrored extension of their device, allowing internet searches, music, and app use to project through the Uconnect 5 system.

Well, that turns out not to be the case as Jeep has just made the passenger screen optional on the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited, Overland, and Summit models. The passenger screen carries the option code of (RJA) and has a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $1,095 USD.

New Dark Appearance Packages –

Starting this month, Jeep dealers are now available to order the Grand Cherokee L Limited with a “Limited Black Package” (ALC). The package adds the same Gloss Black accents from the Altitude to the Limited models, so that the vehicle will feature premium features like LED fog lamps, Capri leather seats, 8-way power driver seat with memory, 4-way driver/front-passenger lumbar adjuster with memory, and Selec-Terrain traction management system, which offers five available terrain modes (Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, Mud/Sand) on 4×4 models.

A new High Altitude package is also available for Summit models. It includes the Gloss Black exterior accents, badging, roof rails, and a unique seven-slot grille. The High Altitude models also include an exclusive 21-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheel design. The package will be available later in the 2022 model year.

Too bad Hydro Blue not available on the Altitude package

I decided to hold off on leasing a new Grand Cherokee and I believe I will not rush that decision. Frankly the Grand Cherokee is still a work in progress and since I generally build and order my Jeep to my specific configuration, that time has clearly not arrived. It is fine for many buyers, but I just am darn particular about my cars and this Jeep will be a longer acquisition for me, likely a purchase, so I will wait at least another year. in particular, I want the height adjustment feature for sure that I believe is currently not available. Jeep has done such a great job with the Grand Cherokee, but even better is still in the works. I’ll wait.
