Dodge Charger Daytona Recalled for Missing Pedestrian Warning Sound

Stellantis Issues Recall for Over 8,000 Vehicles Due to Amplifier Software Issue

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 8,390 units of its 2024 to 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona (LB29) vehicles due to an amplifier that may be missing software, which can prevent the amplifier from emitting exterior sound, including pedestrian warnings. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) No. 141, “Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.”

Vehicles that do not emit exterior sound are more difficult for pedestrians and other drivers to detect, which could result in a crash without prior warning or increase the risk of injury to pedestrians.

The suspect period began on April 30, 2024, when the first 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona was produced, and ended on March 18, 2025, when the last suspect vehicle was produced. Engineering release and vehicle manufacturing records were used to determine the suspect population. Similar vehicles not included in the recall were built after the suspect period.

Recall Chronology –

  • On April 17, 2025, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into certain 2024–2025 model year Dodge Charger vehicles that may not emit exterior sound.

  • From April 17, 2025, through May 13, 2025, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US Engineering and the supplier to understand all potential failure modes associated with the issue. They also reviewed warranty data, field records, and customer assistance records to determine field occurrences.

  • On May 14, 2025, the FCA US TSRC organization determined that a vehicle build issue existed on certain vehicles related to a lack of EV exterior sound, potentially resulting in noncompliance with FMVSS No. 141.

  • On June 6, 2025, FCA US decided, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles.
