Ram Argentina Recalls 159 Ram 1500 Classic Models For SCCM

A Follow Up To The U.S. Market Recall...

Stellantis (FCA Automobiles Argentina S.A.) is recalling 159 units of its fourth-generation 2023 Ram 1500 Classic Laramie pickups for a steering column control module issue. We announced this same recall for the U.S. market back in December covering specific 2023 Ram 1500 Classic (DS), Ram 3500 10K Chassis Cab (DF), as well as 2023 and 2024 Ram 2500 (DJ), Ram 3500 (D2), Ram 3500 Chassis Cab (DD), and Ram 4500/5500 Chassis Cab (DP) vehicles.

Those 159 units in Argentina may have been built with a steering column control module (“SCCM”) turn signal self-canceling anti-jam component out of specification or an internal short circuit on the SCCM printed circuit board (“PCB”).

The steering column control module may cause the high beams to activate when the turn signal is used or activate the turn signal when the high beams are used. In addition, the turn signal self-canceling feature may not function properly.

A turn signal that remains active after a completed turn may cause surrounding drivers to misunderstand the intent to change vehicle direction. High beam activation when the turn signal switch is activated may reduce oncoming drivers’ visibility. Either of these conditions may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.

According to FCA Automobiles Argentina S.A., the units affected were produced between February 27, 2023, and July 21, 2023. Those trucks will have the last eight digits of PG573007 to PG659659.
