Next generation charger?

Does the Penta-star dilute things? The 2.0L is a more potent powerplant than the 3.6.

I actually kind of agree, that neither should be in the Challenger.... but that is my Muscle Snobbery..... we do need swap bodies for the future. :D

For whom care about fuel efficiency and look only and don’t care about performance, the Pentastar and the 2.0l would be sufficient.
But once you have a taste of a rumbling V8, there will be only regrets.

Sure and with the turbo and a proper tune, I bet even the torque curve will look great.

Word around Detroit is next Challenger has 14 inches removed from it over the current one - chatter among employees

It depends if it is from the wheelbase or overall length.
But depending on how package efficient is the next design, it might not affect the interior space.

a lot of currents nose is for proportion in the existing platform. Interesting to see if it loses the long nose or they creating that look differently

I assume overall length, current car is massive and doesnt need to be that large, they did what they could with the platform - even had to black out the bottom 3 inches in attempt to hide it. With a proper platform it'll be a proper challenger. I always wanted a challenger until I saw it parked beside a charger and saw they were the the same size save for 3 inches - bought the charger

What’s the definition of a proper Challenger?
Last time I heard, the next Challenger was losing 4-inches in length.
14 inches would drop it to a smaller segment.

1970-1974, low and mean - and dont shoot the messenger. If the hammerhead is indeed a 68-70 charger redux, the challanger will have to shrink into a new segment

The first Challenger was:
Wheelbase110 in
Length191.3 in
Width76.1 in
Height50.9 in

The current Challenger is:
Wheelbase116.0 in
Length197.7 in
Width75.7 in
Height55.7–57.5 in

So I agree, Challenger can lose a few inches here and there as long as it doesn’t lose its interior advantage over other coupes.

Minus the V8  o_O (n)

From what I know future of Dodge is very well known and three new models were green lit under ex FCA. One is coming as MY23, two more as MY24. Of course chip crisis could mess with the planned timing.

@ChargerFan1

Next Challenger as small as Giulia? Please, refrain from trolling on this forum. Thank You!

Wait the Grand Cherokee L that barely fits in my sisters garage is the same size as my Stelvio? Wow they sure seem different to me. But I guess the Charger will have to be same as the Giulia

Honestly can’t keep the under the bridge critics straight, the Alfa experiment lessons contribute nothing to the next gen large rear wheel drive cars Or are US market car constrained by them?

Not entirely true.
When Giorgio was initially proposed to underpin the next Challenger and Charger, it was not strong enough to handle the V8’s.
The solution then was to modify the L-platform with lesson learned from the Giorgio US experiment.
An example is the WL platform. Though Jeep doesn’t officially recognize that.

It was sarcasm…. Don’t mistake a body code for a platform and don’t mistake platform for a Architecture. It reminds to be seen if any of the constraints of the Brampton facility and the LX body codes are passed down now that new capacity has been identified.

it is forgone that developmental architectural lessons Giorgio are being passed on to the new rwd based vehicles as each iteration will be better and customized to application. Which in turn means it also is a further departure.

point being the critics can’t have it both ways

Well, I’m just happy we are still getting a next generation RWD Challenger and Charger.

Strong enough? Strong? Hmh. I'm not sure that you've used correct wording.

If you are talking about torsional rigidity then it's not problem with Giorgio at all.
