CAUGHT: Jeep® Grand Cherokee L (WL75) In Right-Hand-Drive Configuration:
Could This Be The Indian-Built Specification Coming By The End Of The Year?
The 2021 Jeep® Grand Cherokee L (WL) is expanding the most award-winning SUV nameplate by offer a three-row option for the first time. The three-row variant is part of a trio of offerings that the Jeep brand plan on showcasing under the Grand Cherokee nameplate, with two-row and electrified variants coming later this fall. But, many have questioned if Jeep plans on selling its American-built Grand Cherokee L globally, as it has with its two-row versions in the past.
While we took a look at spy photos of the new Grand Cherokee L on public roads in Brazil, our spy photographer friends have now captured the new Grand Cherokee L in a right-hand-drive (RHD) configuration. GABETZSpyUnit happened to catch this 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit, on the streets of Europe recently.
Everyone already knows the new Grand Cherokee L is built at the new Detroit Assembly Complex – Mack facility in Detroit, Michigan. While those models feature a bronze American flag emblem next to the nameplate on the side, it is absent from this tester. This detail along with the fact that vehicle is RHD, leads us to believe this may be similar to the product coming from the Ranjangaon Assembly Plant in India. The new Grand Cherokee L is expected to join the newly teased Jeep Commander three-row at the Ranjangaon facility.
Besides being scheduled for the Indian marketplace, the RHD Grand Cherokee L is also expected to join several other countries kicking off with Australia.
Entering its fifth generation, the Grand Cherokee has been designed and engineered to deliver an unmatched combination of legendary 4×4 capability, class-leading on-road refinement, premium craftsmanship both inside and out, in a stylish package that offers the most advanced safety and technology features than ever before.
We can’t wait to see how the new Grand Cherokee L will grow the brand in certain markets. The new Grand Cherokee L has just starting arriving on dealer lots this past week in America. We expect that the Grand Cherokee L will start production in India, sometime before the end of the year.
