In February 2017, Mopar unveiled the Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger which helped to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the service, parts, and customer-care brand of the now Stellantis group. The limited-edition Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger was a head-turner thanks to its hand-painted two-tone exterior scheme and Mopar Custom Shop installed accessories.
Starting with the 2017 Dodge Challenger R/T 392 Shaker as its base, Mopar used both Contusion Blue and Billet Silver hues from the Dodge brand’s color palette. Using the Mopar Custom Shop, Mopar was able to achieve a striking two-tone appearance, thanks to an upper portion that was hand-painted in Pitch Black. A special Mopar 392 logo, was also hand-painted and also gave a custom touch.
The upper portion of the car’s exterior featured Pitch Black accents. A standard Satin Black “Shaker” hood scoop stood out thanks to the Pitch Black-colored hood. The rear decklid spoiler also was painted Pitch Black, however, it was fitted with a black “Mopar Design” badge. A set of 20-Inch x 9-Inch “Scat Pack” wheels feature Semi-Gloss accents and center caps with the “Dodge” logo. The car’s standard chrome exhaust tips were replaced with the black exhaust tips from a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
Power came from the 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) HEMI® V8 delivering 485 horsepower (362 kW) and 475 lb.-ft. (644 N•m) of torque. The HEMI was mated to a 6-speed Tremec TR-6060 manual with a ZF-SACHS 240 mm twin-disc clutch as standard equipment.
A Mopar cold-air intake also helped deliver a performance boost thanks to its air catcher duct system via the headlamp. The upgrade fed additional cold air into the vehicle. Mopar also equipped the car with a set of strut tower braces and caps that were silver power-coated and helped to increase the rigidity and handling of the car. A set of Brembo® four-piston brakes were fitted on all four wheels.
Inside, a set of performance seats, customized with Tungsten Mopar logos embroidered on the seatbacks highlighted the interior. Tungsten stitching matching the Mopar logo borders the seats and continued throughout the vehicle, touching the door panels and additional interior areas.
Befitting its limited-edition origins, the Mopar ’17 Dodge Challenger was delivered with exclusive content that highlighted the vehicle’s prestige and collectability. A special serialized Mopar ’17 80th Anniversary badge was included under the hood, announcing 1-80 of the Contusion Blue version and 1-80 of the Billet Silver option.
Each customer received a special Mopar ’17 Owner’s Kit, packaged in a custom Mopar box that included:
- Mopar Welcome Letter
- “Birth Certificate” With Vehicle Specs, Build Date, & Proprietary Vehicle Number
- Hand-Signed Mopar ’17 Sketch From The Product Design Office
