Tim Kuniskis Returns to Stellantis as Ram Brand CEO
Stellantis Taps Kuniskis to Strengthen Ram amid North American Challenges...
Tim Kuniskis is returning to lead the Ram Truck brand, effective immediately. Stellantis confirmed the leadership shift as part of a broader restructuring aimed at revitalizing its North American operations following the unexpected resignation of CEO Carlos Tavares last week.
“Today’s changes will enable us to operate in a structure that will drive the best outcomes for the region, unlock significant potential, and win in the market. A main lever is for the Ram brand to have its CEO singularly focused on that brand,” Stellantis stated in an email announcing Kuniskis’ return.
A Seasoned Leader in the Driver’s Seat –
Kuniskis, well-known for his expertise and passion for high-performance vehicles, has had a storied career with Stellantis and its predecessor companies. In 2014, he was chosen by then-FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne to lead the Dodge brand, a tenure that marked the debut of the game-changing HELLCAT lineup featuring supercharged HEMI® engines.
His leadership extended across various brands, including Chrysler, Dodge, SRT, and FIAT, as he served as Head of Passenger Car Brands in 2015. He was also a member of FCA’s Group Executive Council, the company’s top decision-making body.
In later roles, Kuniskis expanded his influence as the global head of Alfa Romeo and Maserati, while also managing Jeep® North America. After the formation of Stellantis, Kuniskis returned to focus on Dodge in 2021, later taking on leadership of the Ram brand. His return reflects a strategic effort to harness his extensive experience across multiple brands.
Navigating Challenges –
Stellantis has faced significant headwinds in the North American market, with U.S. sales down 17% year-over-year through the third quarter of 2024 and Ram’s sales dropping 24% over the same period. The company’s restructuring aims to address these issues and strengthen its competitive position.
Other leadership changes accompanied Kuniskis’ reappointment. Christine Feuell will now oversee Chrysler and Alfa Romeo, while Jeff Kommor assumes responsibility for North American sales. Larry Dominique, who led Alfa Romeo in North America, will depart the company.
The Road Ahead for Ram –
Kuniskis’ deep understanding of the automotive market and his hands-on approach to leadership make him well-suited to once again lead the Ram brand through this transitional period. His track record of success, particularly in performance-oriented vehicles, suggests a promising future for Ram under his leadership.
As Stellantis works to regain momentum in the competitive truck segment, Kuniskis’ return signals a renewed focus on innovation, performance, and customer satisfaction.
