Takes First Place In The 4x4 Class...

The dust has settled on the 2024 Rebelle Rally, and once again, Team #129, featuring veteran off-roaders Nena Barlow and Teralin Petereit, has clinched the overall win. Competing in the grueling 1,500-mile event, Barlow and Petereit drove a factory-backed 2024 Jeep® Gladiator Mojave, demonstrating their skill and the vehicle’s rugged capability. This marks the third time in four years that this duo has secured the top spot at the prestigious women’s off-road navigation event.

The Rebelle Rally is the first and only women’s off-road navigation rally in the United States, spanning eight days across the rugged deserts of Nevada and California. It combines the thrill of off-road driving with the challenge of precise navigation. Competitors use maps, compasses, and road books—no GPS or cell phones are allowed—making it a true test of endurance, navigation, and driving skill. The rally’s format prioritizes accuracy over speed, emphasizing precision driving and navigation through some of the country’s most challenging terrain.

Arizona-based Nena Barlow, owner of Barlow Adventures, and Utah nurse Teralin Petereit have become staples of the Rebelle Rally, with 16 combined appearances. For 2024, they took on the competition with the 2024 Jeep Gladiator Mojave, a vehicle known for its “Desert Rated” badge and performance. The team’s efforts earned them the overall win and victory in the Bone Stock category, highlighting their skill and the Gladiator Mojave’s out-of-the-box capabilities.

“The course was rough, the competition was tough, but it was like the Mojave was built for exactly this rally,” said Barlow. “We ran hard for all eight days and used all the advantages that the Mojave gave us with the fast desert suspension and the rear locker for climbing rocky hills. Me, Teralin, and the Mojave finished whole and happy!”

Their victory underscores the Gladiator Mojave’s strengths in the rally’s rugged and diverse conditions, which spanned sand dunes, rocky trails, and mountain passes. The win is the seventh for a Jeep vehicle in the rally’s nine-year history, solidifying Jeep’s reputation for off-road excellence.

The 2024 Jeep Gladiator Mojave is the only model in the Jeep lineup to carry the prestigious “Desert Rated” badge, indicating its readiness for high-speed desert and sand terrains. With new features for 2024, including standard side-curtain airbags and a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, the Gladiator Mojave combines safety with advanced off-road performance.

Engineered specifically for desert environments, the Gladiator Mojave features a reinforced frame, strengthened iron steering knuckles, and an advanced suspension system with exclusive FOX™ hydraulic jounce bumpers. This setup allows it to tackle undulating desert terrain with precision, stability, and comfort. Key attributes of the Mojave include:

  • Ride Control and Stability: A desert-tuned suspension ensures smooth handling over rough terrain.
  • Traction: Engineered to maintain grip on unpredictable surfaces such as loose sand and gravel.
  • Ground Clearance: Optimized suspension allows the vehicle to navigate over dunes and rocky trails.
  • Maneuverability: Agile handling makes conquering tight desert turns and steep climbs possible.
  • Desert Prowess: Developed to withstand extreme heat, coarse sand, and challenging desert conditions.

“Their class and overall wins are a testament to their skill, perseverance, teamwork, and unmatched Desert Rated capabilities of the Jeep Gladiator Mojave,” said Bob Broderdorf, Senior Vice President and Head of Jeep® North America.
