The Brute Squad Take on the Rebelle Rally with Ram 1500 RHO
Ram Brings Its Latest Off-Roader To The Desert...
Ram is once again making its mark in the off-road world by partnering with “The Brute Squad” – a duo of experienced automotive journalists Jill Ciminillo and Kristin Shaw – to compete in the ninth annual Rebelle Rally. Set to take place from October 10-19, 2024, the Rebelle Rally is an all-women, off-road competition that covers more than 1,500 miles through unforgiving desert terrain. This year, Ciminillo and Shaw will be driving a 2025 Ram 1500 RHO, with Shaw at the wheel and Ciminillo handling navigation duties.
The Challenge of the Rebelle Rally –
The Rebelle Rally is no ordinary race. Teams must rely solely on their navigation skills using a map, compass, and roadbook to find hidden checkpoints and stay on course. GPS devices and cell phones are strictly prohibited, making the rally a true test of both skill and endurance. Over eight grueling days, participants must balance time, distance, and navigation accuracy as they traverse the harsh desert landscape.
This is the third time Ciminillo and Shaw have teamed up for the Rebelle Rally. Competing under the name “The Brute Squad,” they have built a reputation for their off-road prowess and ability to work together under extreme conditions.
Ram 1500 RHO: A Perfect Fit for the Rally –
Ram has chosen the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO for the event, a truck built to tackle tough off-road challenges. Powered by the all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane High Output (H/O) Straight-Six Turbo (SST) engine, the RHO delivers 540 horsepower and 521 lb.-ft. of torque. This powerplant comes from Stellantis’ Hurricane Twin-turbo family and offers impressive fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and more horsepower than comparable V-8 or six-cylinder engines in the light-duty truck segment.
The 1500 RHO is designed to dominate off-road environments, making it ideal for the Rebelle Rally’s demands. According to Ram brand CEO Chris Feuell, “The Ram 1500 RHO is right at home in the Rebelle Rally, and we’re proud to support Team Brute Squad in this year’s event.” Ram’s focus on durability and performance aligns perfectly with the rally’s challenging conditions.
One standout feature of the RHO is its value proposition. It offers more horsepower per dollar than any other off-road truck in its class, at $129.60 per horsepower.
The Brute Squad: Behind the Wheel –
Jill Ciminillo and Kristin Shaw bring a wealth of experience to the rally. Ciminillo, an automotive writer, YouTube personality, and managing editor at Pickup Truck+SUV Talk, is known for her insightful reviews and engaging content across multiple social media platforms. Shaw, an accomplished freelance journalist, covers both automotive and aviation topics, with her work appearing in well-known publications like Car and Driver, Edmunds, and Road & Track.
Their partnership in the Rebelle Rally is built on trust and a shared passion for adventure. This year, they’ll put their skills to the test once again, navigating the desert in the rugged Ram 1500 RHO.
A Unique Off-Road Experience –
The Rebelle Rally isn’t just about the thrill of off-roading. It’s a celebration of teamwork, precision navigation, and the strength of the women who participate. With no modern technology to assist them, competitors must rely on their instincts, experience, and determination to make it through the course.
