Jeep® Brazil Celebrates Another Milestone, This Time With Renegade!

The Jeep® Brazil team continues to celebrate milestones during the brand’s 80th anniversary. Just days after the brand announced that its popular Compass C-SUV had outsold its 2020 numbers with a month and a half to go before the end of the year, the American adventure brand has announced that the Jeep assembly plant in Goiana, Brazil has produced its 450,000th Renegade B-SUV vehicle. The Renegade was globally launched there back in 2015.

As the brand’s smallest offering, the Renegade is currently the fourth best-selling vehicle in the country. The Jeep Renegade is also the brand’s best-selling nameplate in Brazil, with more than 67,000 vehicles registered so far in 2021. Currently, there are three assembly plants globally that produce the Renegade (Brazil, Italy, and China). The Brazilian plant exports the Renegade to 12 other countries with the Latin American market.

Under the hood of the Brazilian-spec 2022 Jeep Renegade, customers can choose from two different powertrains – one gasoline with flex-fuel capability and the other diesel.

The 1.8-liter E.torQ (not to be confused with the Ram 1500’s eTorque mild-hybrid system) inline-four-cylinder engine produces 113 horsepower (85 kW) and 117 lb.-ft. (159 N⋅m) of torque. Having flex-fuel capability, the 1.8-liter when fueled with ethanol can produce an additional 2 horsepower and 4 more lb.-ft. of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed Aisin-built automatic transmission and is only offered in a front-wheel-drive (FWD) configuration.

There is also an optional 2.0-liter Multijet II turbo-diesel four-cylinder mated to a ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic. The diesel models add four-wheel-drive (4×4), hill descent control (HDC), and crankcase protector. The 2.0-liter delivers 168 horsepower (125 kW) and 258 ft.-lb. (350 N⋅m) of torque.
