The FIAT brand continues its domination in the South American marketplace into the 2022 calendar year, with the Italian brand leading the sales chart for January in Argentina. Over the past couple of years, FIAT has reinvented itself as the energy-packed, youthful brand in the South American marketplace, and it has proven to be a major success in countries like Brazil and Argentina.
It also marked the brand’s resurgence to leadership for the first time in 8 years (July 2014), with a 19.8% market share. The FIAT brand achieved the #1 spot thanks to the performance of the Cronos compact sedan, Mobi city car, Argo compact hatch, Toro compact pickup, and Strada sub-compact pickup.
The Fiat Cronos took home the title as the best-selling vehicle in Argentina for the 19th consecutive month, in January. During the month of January, FIAT sold 6,076 units of the Cronos, breaking records for the brand and for Stellantis. That number was equivalent to 14.8% of the market share in the Car & Light Commerical Vehicle segment, surpassing the second-place vehicle, by more than 2,800 units. In short, 1.5 out of every car sold in Argentina is a Cronos.
The sales success of the Cronos had a direct impact on the production at the Córdoba assembly plant, where last year, production grew by 108% compared to the same period in 2020.
