Dodge Focuses On User Experience Technology On Its New Charger

Keys, Technology, Infotainment, Powershot, and Ambient Lighting Look To Give Customers An Even Better Experience...

Dodge dropped a lot of details during the reveal of its all-new, all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona yesterday. The design and engineering teams did their homework for this new generation of Chargers. While the powertrain, drivetrain, and overall design are impressive, the Dodge team has focused on the full user experience (UX) when it comes to their next-gen muscle cars.

The experience starts before you even get into the car. For 2024, Dodge will offer three different options to access the car. The first is a traditional key fob, a new square fob similar to the one we have seen on the Jeep® Grand Wagoneer.

The second option is a new smartphone application. Unlike previous apps, the new app has even more functions, with the ability to check the battery charge levels, search charging stations, and set climate and charging schedules. You can even send directions from your phone to the car’s navigation system.

A third option is a new NFC card. Dodge says this is a great option for those who are at the local racetrack and don’t want to carry their bulky smartphone or a set of keys with them. Simply slide the NFC card into a pocket or a wallet, and you can climb in and work the car as if you had a traditional key fob with you.

Infotainment // Uconnect 5:

When it comes to technology inside the car, the 2024 Charger Daytona is a huge leap forward over the car it replaces. Whereas the outgoing car featured an 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C infotainment screen in a square layout, the new 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 screen is laid out in a rectangular shape.

The new Uconnect 5 touchscreen has a ten times better contrast ratio with localized dimming, richer colors, and truer blacks than the outgoing Uconnect 4C system.

The Android-powered Uconnect 5 system has a customizable home page, Dodge Performance Pages, Race Pages, EV Pages, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability for two smartphones at the same time, SiriusXM radio, HD Radio, Amazon Alexa, dual-zone climate controls, and TomTom navigation with natural speech recognition, destination prediction, and a charging station locator.

In front of the driver is a free-standing, wide-format 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, standard on R/T models. An even larger 16-inch digital gauge cluster is included on R/T Plus and Scat Pack models. Cluster options include classic, focused, and navigation-based layouts and customizable cluster content.

For those who don’t like to take their eyes off the road, the new Charger Daytona finally comes with an optional augmented head-up display (HUD) that projects a large field of view with an improved virtual image distance.

A one-of-a-kind One-Button Press Experience allows the driver to instantly switch the vehicle’s personality. A simple push of a steering-wheel button will change the vehicle’s dynamics while the driver information in the cluster and HUD will also change to correspond with the chosen Drive Mode.

Drive Experience Recorder (DxR):

Included with Track Pack on Scat Pack models, drivers can capture and analyze a day at the track in the all-new Dodge Charger Daytona with the Drive Experience Recorder (DxR).

The event-based recorder, with user options for drag race and circuit race recording, offers synchronized logging of audio, video, and vehicle data. Dashcam function allows users to manually start-stop or configure triggers for the fully integrated system, which features a forward-facing 1080p, 60 frames-per-second camera with an in-camera microphone and a USB port for recording storage. Post-event analysis options include in-vehicle playback or through external tools.

Attitude Adjustment Interior Lighting:

Included with the Plus Package is the new Attitude Adjustment Interior Lighting uses new animation technology to communicate key driving events for the first time on a Dodge. Expressed through a parametric texture that adds a sculptural feel to the interior and wrapping 270 degrees from the driver door to the instrument panel to the passenger door, the driver can choose from 64 different colors to custom tailor their interior to their mood. The animation technology features unique adjustments for events like door open/close, ignition on/off, stationary revving, and more.

Powershot Push-To-Pass:

Accessible by a button on the bottom right of the steering wheel, PowerShot is standard on Charger Daytona Scat Pack and R/T models and delivers an incremental 40 horsepower for 15 seconds when activated by a throttle punch.

Sound Systems:

Charger Daytona comes standard with a 9-speaker Alpine 506-watt stereo system with subwoofer. If that’s not enough for your inner audiophile, an optional premium 18-speaker Alpine 914-watt system with subwoofer is available.

As you can see, Dodge was clearly hard at work to offer a completely new UX for its next-gen Dodge Charger owners. The next-gen Dodge Charger Daytona is definitely a huge leap forward, offering more technology, comfort, and customizability at the driver’s fingertips than any other Dodge Charger before it.

While I truly love this new vehicle, I've been waiting to hear about something that I haven't heard anyone speak on yet and that is the E-Rupt system that this car is supposed to have. What's going on with it and how does it work and did it make it to the final production vehicle? Also, I don't know why Stellantis is really having an issue with the Fratzonic exhaust system, when the solution is very simple. TK said the car was going to look like a dodge, sound like a dodge and drive like a dodge. Obviously, it's not a V8 so making it sound like a V8 just makes no sense, however, giving it more of a Viper V10 howl with a bit of SRT4 Crackle and pop wouldn't be a bad idea. The Viper V10 has sort of a howling electrical sound to it so it wouldn't be a bad place to start when making an algorithm for the Fratzonic chamber's sound profile. Adding the burbles of the SRT4 Neon ACR in would definitely give the car a bit of aggressive character as well, especially on Deceleration. A sound profile like that would definitely complete the Look, Sound and drive like a Dodge characteristics of the car. IMO
