For the second consecutive year, the performance-oriented Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio has been named “Northwest Most Fun SUV” by the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) at its annual “Run to the Sun” drive event. NWAPA participants drove several competing vehicles over a 459-mile route and then chose their winners on a variety of categories. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio faced a number of new competitors in its category but still managed to come out on top.
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio remains one of the fastest SUVs in the world. The midsize SUV ran a time of 7 minutes, 51.7 seconds around the iconic Nürburgring. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio can also achieve a 0-60mph in 3.6-seconds and a top speed of 176 mph, thanks to its 2.9-liter 24-valve twin-turbocharged and intercooled V-6 engine that delivers 505 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque.
Thanks to its innovative Q4 all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio gives the driver additional confidence and control when taking to the track or tackling harsh weather. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio also features Alfa Romeo’s DNA Pro selector that offers four different modes including “Race” mode for the track, as well as torque vectoring differential, Chassis Domain Control (CDC), and performance-oriented aluminum column-mounted paddle shifters to maximize the driver’s experience.
“When the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is matched against the competitive segment it retains the title of best performance SUV,” said Nik Miles, Run to the Sun chairman and Vice President of NWAPA. “Words cannot replace the experience of driving this Italian SUV on the roads of Oregon and Washington. This experience clearly impressed the 24 judges in this competition.”
Alfa Romeo even gives the customer more performance-oriented options with the Stelvio Quadrifoglio with the availability of ultra-lightweight carbon fiber shell Sparco racing seats that provide maximum lateral support during extreme cornering with its more aggressive bolstering. There is also an option for a set of Brembo carbon-ceramic material (CCM) brakes for the ultimate stopping performance.
