Alfa Romeo Shows Off It’s Updated Giulia & Stelvio For 2023!

Updated Vehicles Will Be Available Starting In February...

In a surprising move, Alfa Romeo has pulled the covers off of its mid-cycle action (MCA) updates to its popular Giulia sports sedan and Stelvio SUV.

Yesterday, we posted some new spy photos of a 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce prototype out testing using its new sequential switchback LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and less than four hours later, all of the details were dropped.

Exterior Changes –

While both vehicles look very similar to their current counterparts, there are minor exterior changes to help the Giulia and Stelvio blend better with the all-new Tonale’s design language.

The biggest change is the new “3+3” headlights that make their debut on both models. Replacing the current Bi-Xenon units, the updated Giulia and Stelvio offer Full-LED Adaptive Matrix technology. The new headlights feature two sophisticated technologies: the “Adaptive Front Lighting System”, which constantly adjusts the dipped beam headlights based on the speed and driving conditions, and the “Glare-Free High Beam Segmented Technology”, which in poor lighting conditions automatically detects both directions of traffic to avoid blinding the other cars. There is also a new “Welcome and Goodbye” function which turns on every time the driver closes or opens the vehicle.

At the front of the vehicle, the front fascia also receives a new mesh grille texture for the main grille and revised lower front air intake inserts.

Looking at the rear of both vehicles, there are minor tweaks to the taillights as well. The Giulia gets a new transparent finish, while the Stelvio will now come with smoked glass with a Gloss Black finish.

Interior Changes –

Inside, the biggest change is a new completely digital 12.3-inch thin-film-transistor (TFT) digital gauge cluster, where the driver can configure three different layouts: Evolved, Relax, and Heritage.

Evolved represents the future of Alfa Romeo design and uses the central area of the screen, despite keeping its two lateral quadrants in place.

Relax focuses on comfort, is free of detailed vehicle information, and goes without the two quadrants.

Heritage is inspired by the brand’s iconic 1960s and 70s models, with distinctive details like inverted numbers at the end of the speedometer.

NFTs & Technology –

The updated Giulia and Stelvio are equipped with a fluid and intuitive Human Machine Interface (HMI) to keep all the functionalities at hand. Furthermore, the infotainment system guarantees contents, functionalities, and the “Alfa Connect Services” which offers a wide range of useful safety and comfort services designed to offer “Over the Air” updates.

For example, the “My Remote” function includes various services like the possibility of controlling some of the vehicle’s functionalities (opening/closing of doors, flashing lights) from a distance via one’s smartphone/smartwatch.

Non-Fungible-Token (NFT) technology is now available on the updated Giulia and Stelvio – a world exclusive in the automobile field which the Italian brand began on the Tonale. The technology is based on the concept of the “blockchain card”, an encrypted and non-modifiable digital register where the main information on each car gets recorded. This distinctive off-board feature, which is easy to use and sustainable, further highlights the innovative character of Alfa Romeo.

Based on the customer’s selection, the NFT generates a certificate where data on the vehicle’s life gets recorded. This certificate can be used to guarantee proper vehicle preservation and, thus, support its residual value. The NFT certificate provides a further source of credibility which helps the owner/reseller but also reassures the buyer in the choice of a used vehicle.

Simplified Lineup –

The updated Giulia and Stelvio will offer a more simplified lineup. While we haven’t been given details on the North American model just yet, the European lineup with consists of two core mainstream trims (Super and Ti).

The Super trim, which is the entry-level model, can be customized with the adoption of the Sprint pack, which includes various sporty options. Meanwhile, the Ti trim, which highlights the elegance and distinctive character of the two vehicles, can be enhanced with the Veloce pack to reach to most in terms of performance and sportiness.

As for the engine lineup, it appears to remain untouched. For Europe, both vehicles will offer either diesel rear-wheel drive (RWD) or the option for either gasoline or diesel Q4 all-wheel drive (AWD).

Alfa Romeo has yet to announce anything official on the high-performance twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 Quadrifoglio models.

New Special Competizione Model –
