Here Is Everything You Need To Know About The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia!

Alfa Romeo Realigns Its Giulia Lineup For The New Model Year...

Back in August, we discussed that the Alfa Romeo brand realignment of a new simplified lineup marketing strategy for the 2022 model year. The move consisted of realigning the lineup to focus on the fastest-turning packages, and price positioning on higher trims. It also means that the Alfa Romeo lineup in North America will now mirror the rest of the markets that the Alfa Romeo brand is currently in.

For the 2022 model year, the Alfa Romeo Giulia lineup will now consist of the four trim levels (Sprint, Ti, Veloce, and Quadrifoglio).

Sprint –

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint in Alfa Rosso. (Alfa Romeo).

Trying to reduce the complexity of its lineups, the entry-level Giulia Sprint adds a ton of standard content for the 2022 model year. The additional features were based on the most commonly ordered packages for 2021, which would have cost the customer an additional $3,795 if configured the same way. The newly added features include the following…

  • Blind-Spot Monitoring (BSM)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Front Park Assist
  • Automatic High-Beam Headlights
  • Xenon Headlamps
  • Wireless Phone Charger
  • Cold Weather Package –
    • Heated Front Seats
    • Heated Steering Wheel
    • Heated Washer Nozzles
  • Navigation
  • Paddle Shifters

The added content does come with a price increase of $2,200 over the 2021 model. This means that the 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint will have a U.S. Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $42,950 (not including $1,495 for destination charges).

The Sprint still consists of a few additional options that customers can choose from. That includes the Q4 All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) for $2,200, 18-Inch x 8.0-Inch Dark Turbine Aluminum Wheels for $1,000, Gloss Red Calipers with White Script for $650, 225/45R18 BSW AS Performance Tires a no-cost option, Black Sport Leather Seats for $1,000, Red Colored Sport Leather Seats for $1,600, and Dual-Pane Sunroof for $1,350.

Sprint models are available in 6 exterior colors that include Alfa White (N/C), Alfa Rosso ($330), Vulcano Black Metallic ($660), Vesuvio Gray Metallic ($660), Moonlight Grey ($660), and Anodized Blue Metallic ($660).

Ti –

The luxury-oriented Ti focuses on a more premium offering for customers. For 2022, Alfa Romeo again took the most popular options from the 2021 Giulia Ti and added that content as standard equipment. Some of those features overlap with the Sprint, like BSM, ACC, LDW, Automatic High-Beam Headlamps, Xenon Headlamps, and a Wireless Phone Charger. But the Ti also adds the following content as standard equipment…

  • Heated Rear Seats
  • Dual-Pane Sunroof
  • 18-Inch x 8.0-Inch Dark Turbine Aluminum Wheels
  • Sport Pedals
  • Grey Wood Interior
  • Headlamp Washers

The added content adds $2,350 to the MSRP of the 2022 model. That is $650 less than the $3,000 it would cost a customer to order the same options in 2021. The 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti has a U.S. MSRP of $45,090 not including destination.

As for the options available to the Ti for the 2022 model year, customers can choose from Q4 AWD for $2,200, 19-Inch x 8.0-Inch Sport 5-Hole Aluminum Wheels with 225/40R19 All-Season Performance Tires for $1,000, staggered 19-Inch x 8.0-Inch and 19-Inch x 9.0-Inch Sport 5-Hole Aluminum Wheels with 225/40R19 255/35R19 Summer or 3-Season Tires for $1,500, Gloss Red Calipers with White Script for $650, Saddle Brown Leather Seats for $600, Active Assist Plus Package for $1,000, and 14-speaker Harman Kardon® Premium Audio and Leather Dash and Upper Doors for $1,800.

Veloce –

2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce in Orca GT. (Alfa Romeo).

Replacing the popular Ti Sport trim, the Veloce trim combines performance and luxury, all while offering the popular darkened tone that customers were having to pay a premium for in 2021. The Veloce adds BSM, ACC, LDW, Automatic High-Beam Headlamps, Xenon Headlamps, and Rear Heated Seats to the standard content list. The Veloce also adds the following content as standard equipment over last year’s Ti Sport

  • Mechanical Limited-Slip Differential
  • 19-Inch x 8.0-Inch Sport 5-Hole Aluminum Wheels
  • Gloss Black Day Light Opening (DLO)
  • Sport Rear Diffuser
  • Red Calipers
  • 14-Way/12-Way Sport Seats

The added content would add $4,000 to the 2021 Ti Sport model. While the Veloce does get a price increase of $3,600 over the Ti Sport, it sets the new trim at a starting MSRP of $48,500 (excluding destination).

There aren’t many options available for the Veloce model. The few options that are available include Q4 AWD for $2,200, staggered 19-Inch x 8.0-Inch and 19-Inch x 9.0-Inch Sport 5-Hole Aluminum Wheels with 225/40R19 255/35R19 Summer or 3-Season Tires for $500, Red Colored Sport Leather Seats for $600, Active Assist Plus Package for $1,000, and 14-speaker Harman Kardon® Premium Audio and Leather Dash and Upper Doors for $1,800.

Giulia Sprint, Giulia Ti, and Giulia Veloce models feature an all-aluminum, 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged engine delivering 280 horsepower and 306 lb.-ft. of torque, delivering 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph. The turbocharged 2.0-liter is paired with a ZF-source 8HP50 8-speed automatic transmission with aluminum paddle shifters, providing enthusiasts with shifts in less than 100 milliseconds.

Quadrifoglio –

For the life of me just why does the Sprint have those wheels?! Why not a basic 5 or 6 star wheel?! That look hideous. It looks like the Base wheels from the 3 series 12 years ago. No standard sunroof?! At that price point it should be a given for such a small car. Next gen they are going to have come harder with the interior. You can stay true to heritage but bring it up to date. BMW finally got it together. Mercedes is definitely the bar now with the new C300.

BMW cars have a sunroof as a nod to their Isetta heritage. All the Isetta models featured a sunroof. Alfa Romeo vehicles had a different lineage during the fifties and sixties. I sure miss those Alfa commercial vehicles though.

Interior is styling is spot on. FCA had plans to add more technologies into it like fully digital instrument cluster and bigger infotainment screens. AFAIK some of these plans are scrapped by PSA.

Mercedes interior? Very bad in terms of styling. A lots of piano black plastic and one or two screens glued to dashboard. Zero styling I would say.

Fastest turning packages? This car has never met sales expectations and can’t muster 1,000 units a month in sales. It’s a drag on the bottom line. Do the same thing we do with Chrysler models. Kill it, and concentrate the investment on the volume brands .

I would definitely prefer the Alfa. I just think they could do better when we have Jeep and Ram rolling out the interiors they have.

I mentioned Mercedes as the S class is herald as one of the biggest interiors in terms of style and quality. The C class for this generation is just a smaller version. Again I realize that Alfa is a few years within the same generation.

I'm sure the next generation they will come harder.
