New 500e Continues To Rack Up The Awards On The International Stage...

The all-electric 2021 Fiat 500e has been named “Small Car of the Year” at the 2021 News UK Motor Awards. The new electrified 500e was selected by consumers and a shortlist of prominent automotive journalists. As in previous years, the News UK awards have picked the “best-in-class” vehicles across all motor segments.

As the Italian brand’s most historic model, it was responsible for intelligent mobility since its launch in post-war Europe in 1957, the 500 symbolizes the essence of the brand today – pop culture, spontaneous, technologically advanced, and eco-friendly. More than a new product, the new 500e has shown consumers how FIAT is aware of the demands of today’s society, which seeks sustainable, urban, connected, and autonomous mobility.

The 500e was designed from a blank sheet. More than 90% of its components, including the Mini BEV platform, are exclusive. The position of the battery on the floor, for example, guarantees the distribution of weight between the front and rear axles, lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity. These features significantly improve the compact’s stability, without sacrificing driving pleasure and safety.

With few modular components, the architecture received the high-capacity lithium-ion battery system.

For a vehicle in its category, the 500e has an excellent range of 320 kilometers (198.8 miles), easily covering the average daily displacement of around 30 kilometers (18.6 miles). Tests carried out by FIAT indicated that the car can reach 460 kilometers (285.8 miles) of autonomy running in ideal conditions. To get an idea of what this represents, compared to a combustion engine, this autonomy would be equivalent to an average consumption above 62 km/l of fuel (145.83 MPG).

The new electrified Fiat 500e was launched in March of 2020 and has already collected numerous international awards and is already the leading electric city-car in Europe. The 500e is the best-selling car in the “City Car” segment in Europe, with 28% of the market share. It also is the best-selling City Car in 12 different countries and the most sold in the entire electric vehicle (EV) category in Italy.

The new 500e has already been awarded “Green Car” at the French Automobile Awards 2020 and “Car of the Year and Best Small Electric Car” from Driving Electric. On top of these prestigious international acknowledgments, it has also received the “Best Design 2020” award from the German magazine “Auto Motor und Sport” and “Best Design Concept” at the renowned international “Red Dot Design Awards”.
