AUCTION: Customized 1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible

One of the most iconic vehicles from the late-1960s, is the Plymouth Road Runner. This particular Plymouth Road Runner is one of only 2,128 convertibles produced for the 1969 model year. Powered by a non-numbers matching 7.2-liter (440 cubic-inch) MAGNUM V8 and Tremec TKO 5-speed manual transmission, it is a true muscle car lover’s dream vehicle.

Under the hood, this Road Runner has been equipped with Edelbrock dual 4-barrel carburetors, an aluminum air cleaner, and an aluminum intake manifold. The Mopar Performance finned aluminum valve covers and dual exhaust system also add to the car’s aggressive look and sound.

Despite its performance and power, this Road Runner is also a comfortable and convenient car to drive. It has air conditioning to keep the interior cool on scorching summer days and a power-operated convertible top with a boot cover for when it becomes chilly outside. The interior of the tan bucket seat is in excellent shape and offers a ton of comfort and support. The tan bucket seat interior is in excellent condition and provides plenty of comfort and support.

The car also features a Dana rear end, which offers outstanding grip and stability at higher speeds. Additionally equipped with power steering and 4-wheel disc brakes, it is simple to control and can stop quickly when necessary.

The exterior of the car is painted in a Vibrant Red and features Black stripes. To help offset the look, a set of Ridler chrome five-spoke wheels give it that classic, yet modern street appearance. The car also has been done up with some Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote door panel embroidery, adding a fun touch to the car’s personality.

In terms of entertainment, the car has also been equipped with a Kenwood CD radio, trunk-mounted amplifier, and subwoofers, making it perfect for cruising around town or hitting the open road. A tilt steering column, set of dual color-matched sport mirrors (power driver’s mirror), add to the car’s convenience and comfort.

The car is being offered for sale from the Horton Classic Car Museum Collection and has been set up for long-term museum display. However, the buyer should be aware that the car may require some basic service prior to driving, such as fuel system and carburetor maintenance, battery replacement, and brake service. Despite this, the car is being sold at no reserve at the 2023 Mecum Houston auction this Saturday, April 15th.
