Dealers Can Order Three Models Of The New 2022 Jeep® Grand Cherokee WL74!

4xe Is One Of Them, With One Big Surprise...

Coming off the highly successful launch of the all-new 2021 Jeep® Grand Cherokee L (WL75), the Jeep brand is amping up for its launch of the direct replacement for the Grand Cherokee (WK2) with its all-new two-row 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL74). Both the WL74 and WL75, make up a new trio of SUVs from the American adventure brand which will also include the new electrified Grand Cherokee 4xe. So with three new model variants of the most-awarded SUV nameplate ever, there is a lot of pressure on Jeep to deliver the best iteration yet going into the 2022 model year.

While its official public debut that was scheduled to happen this month at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) was canceled due to a possible delta variant of the coronavirus being spread, the Jeep brand has continued ahead and has opened dealer orders for the unreleased model according to our dealer sources.

Our sources have indicated that three variants of the new two-row 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL74) are available for U.S. dealer orders. Those models include…

Despite starting production a month after the initial WL74 models, the Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 4xe will be the first model offered at the launch of the 4xe model. While Jeep isn’t even telling its dealer body which engine option will be under the hood of the 4xe, our sources have said it will be an almost identical setup to the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe utilizing a turbocharged 2.0-liter GME-T4 inline-four, a ZF-sourced 8HP hybrid 8-speed automatic transmission, and plug-in capability.

The biggest news is that the Grand Cherokee 4xe will get the same 10.25-inch passenger screen as the premium Wagoneer Series III and Grand Wagoneer models. We were lucky enough to have one of our readers who spotted the vehicle out testing, send us photos of a WL74 Summit Reserve 4xe’s new passenger touchscreen proving our dealer sources correct.

Five exterior colors will be available at the launch of all three models. They include the same five colors that we have been seeing on the Grand Cherokee L, which include Velvet Red, Baltic Grey, Diamond Black, Silver Zynith, and Bright White.

Pricing for the new WL74 models has yet to be released to the dealer body. We expect that to come closer to launch, which will happen Monday, September 27th at the Detroit Assembly Complex – Mack facility. As we said earlier, the 4xe variant will be available a month later.

What do you think of the three launch models? How about that passenger screen? Would you like to see them available across the lineup? Don’t forget to check out our dedicated WLJeepForum.com forum, to discuss everything surrounding the fifth-generation Grand Cherokee (WL) models.

Ordering is one thing but what is delivery time going to be like?

I was at a Jeep Dealership August 18th and told they couldn't order yet. I would just like to see the feature availability with prices and specifications, even if not able to order yet.
