Today, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) announced that the company had begun to ship the long-awaited 2020 Jeep® Gladiator models to select dealers. Now if you recall a few weeks ago we told you that the all-new Gladiator would originally be only available in select Jeep dealer showrooms, since Jeep had an allocation process in hand for the mid-size truck.
The document stated dealers must have the following to be granted an early production unit of the Gladiator.
- 75% of the Jeep Wrangler inventory that the dealer sells, must be the Unlimited models
- 25% of the dealer’s inventory sold must be Jeep products
- It also depends on how fast they can sell Jeep products based on days that the units are placed on their lot.
This means that only dealers that fit this criteria will be allowed to sell the vehicle at first. As production ramps up and orders starting getting filled, then the smaller dealers will get their orders filled and shipped to them.
FCA invested $273 million to retool and modernize their FCA US Toledo (Ohio) Assembly Complex (South Plant) for Gladiator production, and added 329 full-time positions to support the build. So there won’t be a problem filling the initial orders.
