Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling a single 2022 Ram 1500 Classic (DS) pickup due to a wiring harness that may short-circuit and prevent the rearview image from displaying. As such, this vehicle fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111, “Rear Visibility.”
The suspect period began on August 10, 2022, when the suspect vehicle was produced. Vehicle production records were used to determine the suspect period.
Chronology:
- On December 19, 2022, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization was notified of a potential issue related to an electrical harness with a manufacturing defect that could result in the RVC becoming disabled on some 2022 MY Ram 1500 Classic vehicles.
- From December 2022 through November 2023, FCA US TSRC conducted an analysis of warranty data, field records, and customer assistance records to understand potential customer consequences.
- From November 2023 through May 2024, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US engineering and manufacturing to review the issue, understand the failure mode, and determine the suspect population.
- On May 14, 2024, the FCA US TSRC organization recognized a vehicle build issue existed on certain vehicles related to a condition that can lead to the RVC being disabled, potentially resulting in noncompliance with FMVSS No. 111.
Dealers will replace the wiring harness free of charge. The vehicle has been remedied. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC’s number for this recall is 65B.
