Stellantis Post It’s Sales Numbers For The United States In Q1 2023!

Sales Decline 9% Overall, Compared To The Same Time Last Year...

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) has released its sales figures for the first quarter of 2023, reporting a decrease of 9% compared to the same period in the previous year, with a total of 368,237 vehicles sold.

Despite the challenging market conditions in the automotive industry, U.S. Head of Sales, Jeff Kommor, said that FCA US is adapting to meet its customers’ expectations in collaboration with its dealer network.

Additionally, FCA US continues to see strong demand for its plug-in hybrid vehicles, with the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe ranking as America’s best-selling PHEV vehicles. The company is also preparing to introduce new electric offerings, such as the Alfa Romeo Tonale, whose production was recently announced, and the Dodge Hornet R/T, which is set to arrive in dealerships this spring.

Meanwhile, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe’s total U.S. sales increased by an impressive 72% over the same period. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe, which is the first-ever electrified Jeep Wrangler, maintained its position as America’s best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle with 14,392 units sold, accounting for 38% of total Jeep Wrangler sales during the first quarter.

The 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe, which became available in late 2022, accounted for 7,222 units sold and 13% of Grand Cherokee U.S. sales in the first quarter of 2023, making it the second-best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle in America. It’s worth noting that individuals who purchase and receive delivery of a Jeep Wrangler 4xe or Grand Cherokee 4xe by April 17th, 2023, may be eligible for up to $7,500 in federal tax credit.

FIAT –

2023 Fiat 500X Yacht Club Capri Special Edition. (FIAT).

FIAT has struggled to gain a foothold in the American marketplace, with sales of the Italian brand falling to under 1,000 units for the 2022 model year. Except for the 500X, the rest of FIAT’s lineup was discontinued from the United States marketplace after 2020. Given the lackluster sales figures, it seems that the FIAT experiment in the United States has failed, at least for the time being. Until FIAT introduces new products, it is unclear whether the brand will be able to regain traction in the American market.

I've been to the local dealer a few times in past few months and the GC prices are insane quite frankly. 60k plus for everything on the lot, so I'm not surprised to see sales down if these are the prices on lots nation wide. As for Dodge, who knew increasing the price by thousands of dollars but not updating the car would lead to a sales slump?

Cherokee is actually up, last model year, although there is a typo in the chart saying a loss.

Indeed, Grand Cherokees are costly when loaded. Frankly, I think Jeep blew it on the exterior styling, bland, especially the sides and rear lights. Ralph has had some stunning designs, but some losers too. Chrysler 200, the first Cherokee, and the current Grand Cherokee and Ram pickup that share similar design characteristics and have not resonated with customers, me included.
Time it seems for a major refresh of both already. Sales tell the story.
