Our friends at Real Fast Fotography, caught the new 2019 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk testing this past weekend on the streets of Metro Detroit. While the 2019 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk is the trim model that receives the least amount of change compared to the other 2019 Renegade lineup on the outside, underneath is where it counts.
The 2019 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk will receive the new direct-injected 1.3-liter turbocharged inline-four. This engine will be 180 horsepower and 199 ft.-lbs. of torque. The new 1.3-liter will be backed with the 9-speed automatic transmission and features options such as Engine Stop Start (ESS). Unlike the rest of the lineup, the Trailhawk will not get active grille shutters.
Its off-road capabilities are still best-in-class and remain the benchmark of the segment. The 2019 Renegade 4×4 capability finds its best expression in the Trailhawk trim created for off-road driving and packed with specific, stylistic and technical features.
Key new features of the model are the new headlamps with full-LED daytime running lights, high beam, low beam and fog lamps (optional on Trailhawk) that enhance the vehicle’s efficiency and safety. Thanks to the new front lighting, visibility is increased by 50% with respect to halogen headlamps and brightness is improved by 20% with respect to Xenon headlamps. Both the perception of depth and lateral illumination are improved. These changes deliver a personal, evolved and modern look to the front end of the Renegade that is in-line with the typical Jeep styling.
The rear end also features updated taillamps with new LED light clusters, available on Trailhawk. The light clusters are a key design element of the rear end of the vehicle featuring a characteristic X pattern inspired by the Wrangler – this is another unmistakable Jeep design element that defines the character of the two models.
With its independent-wheel suspension able to guarantee a maximum wheel articulation up to 8.07-inches (205mm) and a ground clearance of up to 8.26-inches (210mm), Jeep Renegade Trailhawk defines the reference in the segment and offers best-in-class 4×4 capability. Furthermore, on this version, Selec-Terrain integrates the Rock function to maxizise wheel traction and improve grip.
The North American 2019 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk, starts production October 15th. Ordering is currently available, although pricing as yet to be officially announced since the North American version has yet to make it’s official debut.
