Last month, the Jeep® brand announced the return of the premium High Altitude package to its Grand Cherokee lineup. It marks the first time that the package will make its appearance on the all-new (WL) models and continues the success of the previous brand’s dark appearance packages. The darkened-themed packages made up for 40% of the sales on the previous model.
Announced at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), Jeep explained that the new High Altitude package would only be available on Summit and Summit Reserve models of the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Grand Cherokee 4xe and three-row Grand Cherokee L. This meant that those purchasing the all-new two-row non-PHEV Grand Cherokee two-row were left out to pasture.
Inspecting the Build & Price configurator on Jeep.com, we noticed that Jeep quietly updated the building tool to include the new High Altitude package. But upon further inspection, we noticed it has been opened on all three variants of the Grand Cherokee (two-row, three-row, and PHEV).
The High Altitude Package includes…
- 21-Inch x 9-Inch Black Painted Aluminum Wheels
- Painted Door Cladding
- Gloss-Black Exterior Accents
- Neutral Gray Exterior Accents
- Gloss-Black Roof Rails
In total, nine exterior colors are available to choose from with the High Altitude package. Those colors include…
- Monotone –

The High Altitude package, with a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $1,495 on Summit and $995 on Summit Reserve. It will also be available in Canada for the MSRP of $1,795 on both Summit and Summit Reserve. The High Altitude package adds premium 21-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, Gloss Black accents and badges, roof rails, and a unique seven-slot grille to the already well-appointed Summit and Summit Reserve models.
