Production of the all-new Fiat Grande Panda has begun at the Stellantis Kragujevac Assembly Plant in Serbia. The automaker launched FIAT’s newest vehicle on Monday, with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, on hand.

The event celebrated an updated production line, which allows the facility to produce the first-ever electric vehicle (EV) in Serbia. It replaces the Fiat 500L, which was produced at the facility from 2012 to 2022.

“I am very pleased to be back with the teams in Kragujevac and the union representatives to mark the impressive progress made since we announced this investment two years ago. This is certainly a good moment to commend the Stellantis team in Serbia for their commendable performance and dedication in front of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, to whom I sincerely thank for his continuous support. The joint venture we established in 2008 is entering a new era with the production of the Fiat Grande Panda, its first electric vehicle, contributing to providing clean, safe, and affordable mobility to citizens worldwide,” said Tavares.

With a projected starting price of around €25,000 (approximately $27,170 USD), the Grande Panda provides an accessible entry into the FIAT lineup. This pricing strategy aims to appeal to a wide range of consumers looking for a versatile and budget-friendly vehicle without compromising on modern features and technology. The Grande Panda looks to take on cheap Chinese EVs, including Stellantis’ own joint venture with Chinese EV startup Leapmotor, for which Stellantis has begun to produce products in Poland.

“We are going to be challenged, and I would say brutally challenged, by the Chinese offensive on the European market,” Tavares said on Monday. “At Stellantis, we are ready for the fight.”

The Grande Panda will be offered in both EV and hybrid variants.

Wish the Junior had gotten the same nod to brand history that the Panda got, great update on that.

Will be a great Renegade. And through the few remain Fiat Dealers a bone with a product that should have always been offered.
