Hagan Goes Deep, Stewart Stumbles Early At Sonoma
TSR Dodge//SRT Teams Battle Hard at DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals

The Dodge//SRT teams rolled into wine country this past weekend for the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by POWEREDGE, and the action didn’t disappoint. Led by Matt Hagan in Funny Car and Tony Stewart in Top Fuel, the TSR camp entered Sonoma Raceway on a hot streak—but came away with mixed results as the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series completed race 12 of 20.
Hagan Grabs No. 1 Spot, Goes Deep in Funny Car –

Fresh off a win in Seattle, Matt Hagan came into Sonoma swinging. He blasted to the No. 1 qualifying spot with a 3.861-second pass at 332.59 mph in the Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage (JHG) Dodge//SRT HELLCAT Funny Car, earning his first top qualifier of the 2025 season—and 51st of his career.
On Sunday, Hagan started with a dominant win over Jeff Diehl, posting a 3.884 ET at 333.91 mph. Then came one of the closest races of the weekend—he edged out Bob Tasca III in round two on a holeshot, running 3.937 to Tasca’s 3.936. That sent Hagan to the semifinals against points leader Austin Prock, who narrowly beat him again, 3.927 to 3.937.
“We were on the backside of another good drag race by a hundredth out there,” said Hagan. “Those races are tough, but they have to fall our way eventually. I don’t know what we have to do to win a round against those guys (Prock), but it’ll come.”
Even with the loss, Hagan jumped to second in the championship standings, 201 points behind Prock. He also earned a rematch with Prock in the upcoming Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge at Brainerd.
Stewart’s First-Round Streak Snapped –

Tony Stewart, the only Top Fuel driver with a perfect first-round win record in 2025, saw his streak come to an end at Sonoma. Driving the Mobil 1 Dodge//SRT Top Fuel dragster, Stewart qualified fifth with a strong 3.700-second run in Q3.
But Sunday didn’t go as planned. Paired up with veteran Josh Hart, Stewart’s dragster lost traction early, clocking a 10.343 ET to Hart’s clean 3.746.
“We just stubbed our toe in the first round,” said Stewart. “It’s a hiccup, but I feel like our team still had a lot of gains internally. Even though the results didn’t show this weekend, there’s still a lot of confidence for the crew chiefs moving forward.”
Despite the early exit, Stewart remains second in the Top Fuel standings, just 48 points behind leader Shawn Langdon. The team debuted a new red, white, and blue Mobil 1 livery in Sonoma, which turned heads all weekend.
Zetterström Nearly Takes Out Brown –
Swedish driver Ida Zetterström, in her JCM Racing Dodge//SRT dragster, continues to make solid progress in her rookie Top Fuel campaign. After two strong qualifying passes, she ran a 3.739-second pass in round one on Sunday—despite a mechanical issue. That wasn’t quite enough to beat defending Sonoma champ Antron Brown, who clocked a 3.718.
“We want to turn on win lights on Sunday,” said Zetterström. “In the first round today, we had a parts malfunction that caused us to slow. If the part had held up, there’s a good chance we could’ve beat the (race) champion.”
Still, the JCM team walked away with valuable data and confidence heading into Brainerd.
All three Dodge-backed nitro drivers will return at the NHRA Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, August 15–17 at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota. The action starts Friday afternoon, with Sunday eliminations live at 3:00 p.m. ET on FOX.
