Fasten your seatbelts because the newest installment in the “Fast and Furious” saga is set to hit screens next month. Universal Studios has just released its second trailer for the tenth installment of the franchise, which is set to hit screens on May 19th.
Familiar faces returning for this chapter include Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, John Cena, and Scott Eastwood. But there are also some new additions to the crew, including Brie Larson, Alan Richtson, and Daniela Melchior. Legendary actress Rita Moreno also joins the cast as Dom and Mia’s mother (where has she been all this time?). Even the late Paul Walker’s daughter, Meadow will be in the film in some capacity.
The plot centers around Dom Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, being pursued by Jason Momoa’s character Dante. The reason for the chase? Dante is the son of Hernan Reyes, the villain from Fast Five who Toretto and his crew killed. Dante has been plotting revenge for the past 12 years and wants to destroy Dom’s family “piece by piece.”
There is no doubt that several Mopar vehicles will be in the film. But, of course, the trailer is highlighted by Diesel behind the wheel of not one but two Dodge Chargers. The first is his iconic blown 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, which appears to get a lot of screen time in the installment. The other is a 2022 Dodge Charger SRT HELLCAT Redeye, which looks to have cut out over the factory IHI supercharger in the hood.
This installment looks to be even more insane, from Dom trying to guide a nuclear bomb away from the Vatican in his Dodge Charger SRT HELLCAT Redeye to him avoiding being smashed between two semi-trucks in his iconic blown 1970 Dodge Charger by going to an instant wheelie and jumping over the side of a dam.
A few months ago, Dodge’s latest muscle car, the all-new battery-electric Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee Concept, was spotted in California on the film’s set. So there is a good chance we could see that car in some sequences in the movie, if not a finale scene.
The film is set to open in the United States on Friday, May 19th, 2023—a sequel planned to serve as the eleventh and final main installment is in development.
