HEMI-Powered, Resto-Mod Done By Tommy Pike Customs...

The Mopar brand loves showcasing a number of its products in various conceptual builds and resto-mods. One of the more stunning resto-mods that Mopar has showcased is this beautiful 1937 Dodge 1/2-ton pickup done by Tommy Pike Customs of Greenville, South Carolina.

Known as “Project Long Haul”, Pennzoil commissioned Tommy Pike and his team to build a vehicle to honor Mopar and its 80th Anniversary. The truck was then presented at the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas on the Mopar display.

Fast forward 5 years and Mopar is still using the truck for various car events, such as the “Wild Wheels at Work” event for Chrysler employees and their families at the Stellantis North American Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It’s there where we recently got to catch up with this beautiful piece of automotive art.

Truck 1937 Dodge pickup body, sits on a full custom chassis with mandrel bent frame rails. The truck also features RideTech HQ Series coil-overs to give it an aggressive stance and help with handling characteristics.

Painted in PPG Mopar Blue and highlighted with Black fenders, the truck automatically draws your eyes to it. There is a custom wood bed with the Pennzoil® logo on it, a handpainted old-school Mopar logo, and a set of “smoothie” wheels with Dodge “poverty” caps that give this truck the look of an old-school delivery truck.

Those wheels are wrapped in General Tire™ G-MAX AS-05 rubber and hide a set of Wilwood® billet forged 6-piston calipers with 13-inch rotors.

Under the dual opening hood, is a modern 5.7-liter (345 cubic-inch) HEMI V8 crate motor. The motor puts out 383 horsepower and 417 lb.-ft. of torque on premium unleaded fuel. Of course, it is run on Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 oil. There is the addition of MagnaFlow® stainless steel “hot rod” exhaust system, to add even more grunt to the HEMI.

Inside, the truck features a Bright Red interior with custom fabricated hot rod seats with Red leather cushions. A full JL Audio® package will JX400/4D and JX500/1D amplifiers, 10TW3-D4 subwoofers built in a custom enclosure, and TR650CSi speakers, which can make sure to drown out the roar from the HEMI in favor of your favorite cruising tunes.

Like we said before, the truck is simply an amazing piece of automotive art. We are happy to see it making its way around various Mopar events.
