Jeep® Is Majorly Expanding Its Wagoneer Lineup Going Into 2023!

Jeep® is bringing a number of announcements for its Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer (WS) lineups to this year’s New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Highlighting the NYIAS show are a number of new options for the WS lineup, including long-wheelbase (L) variants, an all-new twin-turbo 3.0-liter (Hurricane) inline-six-cylinder engine, and an all-new blacked-out “Carbide” package for Wagoneer models. So let’s take a look at what Jeep will be unveiling this morning in New York.

Long Wheelbase –

The new “L” variants sit upon a 130-inch wheelbase version of the WS platform, which is 7-inches longer than the standard-wheelbase models. While legroom is the same in all rows as the standard-wheelbase models, the “L” focuses on cargo space behind the third row.

Both “L” variants can be optioned with either 7- and 8-passenger seating layouts. Customers will be able to opt for either a bench seat or a pair of captain’s chairs. 

The increased length allows the “L” to have 15.8 cubic feet more cargo room behind the third-row set of seats (44.2 cubic feet) over the standard models. If you fold down the second-and third-row seats, the “L” offers an amazing 130.9 cubic feet of storage room. That is enough space to fit a 4×8 sheet of plywood in the rear of the vehicle.

All “L” models will feature 6 tie-down loops in the cargo area and Grand Wagoneer L models will come standard with a rail system to help with cargo management.

The “L” variants will be launched later this year, as 2023 models.

Twin-Turbo Hurricane Engines –

When it comes to what is under the hood, the new “L” models will come standard with the Stellantis’ twin-turbo 3.0-liter (Hurricane) inline-six-cylinder engine. The Wagoneer L will come with the standard-output version of the Hurricane, producing 420 horsepower and 468 lb.-ft. of torque (28 horsepower and 64 lb.-ft. of torque more than the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with the eTorque mild-hybrid system, which is standard on the standard-wheelbase Wagoneer). 

The Grand Wagoneer L, on the other hand, will feature the “Hurricane Twin Turbo 510” (high-output) version. The “510” denotes its 510 horsepower output. With 500 lb.-ft. of torque, the “Hurricane Twin Turbo 510” outpowers the current 6.4-liter HEMI V8 by 39 more horsepower and 55 lb.-ft. of torque.

Both powerplants will be backed by ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmissions.

Wagoneer Carbide –

As we stated yesterday, a new blacked-out package mirroring the looks of the Grand Wagoneer Obsidian will come to the Wagoneer lineup. The package will include Gloss Black wheels, grille textures, mirror caps, headlamp appliques, and roof rack. The grille rings will feature a Black Onyx color as well.

Inside, the interior features a Global Black color with a “technical hydrographic” finish on the instrumental panel (I/P) and door panels. All of the leather surfaces will feature “Smoke” accented color stitching. There is also an all-black headliner fitted with the awesome panoramic tri-pane sunroof.

The new Carbide package will arrive on all standard-wheelbase Wagoneers this spring, while Wagoneer L models will arrive in H2 of 2022.
