Jeep® Introduce e-Hybrid Tech To Its European Avenger Lineup
MHEV 1.2-liter 3-Cylinder Under The Hood...
In response to a noticeable pushback against full electrification, Jeep® is broadening its Avenger (JJ) range with the introduction of the new Avenger e-Hybrid across all European markets. Initially slated for release exclusively in the Italian and Spanish markets with an internal combustion engine (ICE) model, the American adventure brand has now incorporated mild-hybrid technology into the ICE model, offering customers a compelling mix of traditional and electrified powertrains.
This expansion aligns with Jeep’s commitment to providing consumers with diverse choices, allowing them to select from three different powertrains – fully electric, ICE, and the newly introduced Avenger e-Hybrid.
Eric Laforge, Head of Jeep® Brand in Europe, emphasized the brand’s dedication to offering versatility, stating, “The new Avenger e-Hybrid represents another step towards electrification as an eco-friendly vehicle, intentionally crafted to provide an inclusive choice to a wide spectrum of customers.”
Jeep has been at the forefront of electrification, introducing the 4xe Plug-In Hybrid technology on models like Compass, Renegade, Wrangler, and the new Grand Cherokee. The Avenger e-Hybrid adds another layer to the brand’s electrification journey, combining an internal combustion engine with mild-hybrid technology for a seamless driving experience.
The heart of the Avenger e-Hybrid lies in its innovative MHEV engine technology, featuring a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder combustion engine producing up to 100 horsepower, a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, and a 21-kW electric motor integrated into a 6-speed dual-clutch electric gearbox. This combination optimizes efficiency, enhances low-end torque, and ensures a quiet and responsive start for drivers.
The Avenger e-Hybrid offers an electric driving mode at low speeds, activated during city driving at speeds below 30 km/h (18.6 mph), providing up to 1 km (3,281 feet) of autonomy in completely electric mode. The vehicle also features e-creeping and e-parking functions, contributing to energy recovery and eliminating the need for plug-in charging.
In terms of performance, the Avenger e-Hybrid accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 11 seconds. Noteworthy features include the Open-Air Sky Roof, Powered Driver Seat with massage function, and leather materials, elevating comfort and pleasure for both drivers and passengers.
The Avenger e-Hybrid introduces new connected services packs, Connect ONE and Connect PLUS, enhancing the driving experience with assistance, security, and a range of connected services focused on navigation.
Jeep’s commitment to freedom of choice is evident in the diverse Avenger lineup, with trim levels like Longitude, Altitude, and Summit offering various features, designs, and technological advancements. The Avenger e-Hybrid embodies Jeep’s dedication to providing vehicles catering to different preferences and driving conditions.
Orders for the new Avenger e-Hybrid will be accepted from the end of November, marking a significant milestone in Jeep’s pioneering electrification journey across all European markets.
