It’s HERE! Our Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 Has Arrived:
After Months Of Waiting, We Get Our Hands On Our New Long-Term Track Car...
Back in January, our Co-Editor Jared Balfour made the decision to pull the trigger on ordering a brand-new 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320. As an avid drag racer, the Scat Pack 1320 was the perfect package for him to reenter the drag racing scene after a few years of being absent from the track. With the limited-edition run of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon being out of reach of many, the Scat Pack 1320 offers more of a budget-friendly option to grassroots racers.
Named for the quarter-mile distance (1,320 feet), the Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 is powered by the 392 HEMI® V-8 that delivers 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque and is mated to the quick-shifting TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission with class-exclusive transbrake. It is equipped with specially developed Nexen SUR4G Drag Spec 275/40R20 street-legal drag radial tires that deliver maximum grip and offer repeatable quarter-mile times.
With a quarter-mile (1,320 feet) elapsed time (E.T.) of 11.7 seconds at 115 miles per hour (mph), the showroom-stock Scat Pack 1320 is the fastest naturally aspirated, street-legal muscle car available. A perfect choice for a daily driver and track car for a person like Jared.
Now while this car will make a lot of future passes down the quarter-mile, like we said before it will be a daily driver as well. So during the ordering process, we wanted a Scat Pack 1320 that offered all of the creature comforts that would make daily life, comfortable. Now if you follow the MoparInsiders.com YouTube channel, you will remember when we made the announcement of ordering the car at the Toronto International Auto Show in February, we said that the car we had ordered was a Destroyer Gray with a red interior. The reason why the car took so long to order, was the fact that even though it originally seat you could order that color combination on Dodge’s website and in the dealer order configurator, it was not available on the Scat Pack 1320.
Our order was placed with the combination and sat for over two and a half months before a Dodge representative got back to our friends at White Rock Dodge, saying that it was unavailable. Dodge then allowed us to change our order after the ordering for the Scat Pack 1320 had closed. At that time Jared decided to switch the color to B5 Blue to better match the all-black interior.
So after five months of waiting, the car arrived at White Rock Dodge yesterday. Our friends at Frontier Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Frontier, British Columbia ironically reached out to us on Wednesday after receiving their shipment of their two Scat Pack 1320s, confirmed that our car was in the hauler on its way down to White Rock Dodge. We were ecstatic.
So there are big plans for this car in the near future. We have plans to take the car across Canada and race at several different tracks over the next year. We are already getting sponsors on board to help us with making the trip across Canada and maybe even to run a few events in the United States (Detroit area, where our U.S. HQ is). If your business would like to join in the efforts, you can contact us for more details.
You will be able to see the car on display for events at White Rock Dodge in Surrey, British Colombia as well as several Canadian Mopar Club events. We will be covering the life-span of this car very thoroughly, so be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel as we have been working at bringing a lot more content for the website and behind the scenes to our viewers.
But for the meantime, what would you like to see us do with the car? What modifications would you like to see first? Leave your comments below, we would love to hear them. We look forward to seeing you on the track!
