Inside Mopar’s Custom Shop At Sterling Heights Assembly:

We Get A Look At How Mopar Accessories Are Added To The Ram 1500...

There are thousands of ways you can configure your 2019 Ram 1500 pickup. But when going through the ordering packages, not all of the equipment packages are installed on the assembly line at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP). In order to save time and space on the assembly line, trucks with certain equipment options are sent to the Mopar Custom Shop, which is adjacent from the assembly plant to install things like Mopar accessories, spray-in bedliners, and even graphics packages.

For the first time, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has open the doors to the public to show us what exactly the Mopar Custom Shop does and how they do it. We get our chance to follow a newly assembled 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel through the custom install process at the Custom Shop. It’s a great opportunity to see the other side of the assembly process, beyond the doors at SHAP.

Anywhere from 300 to 500 Ram 1500s roll through the Mopar Custom Shop in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The Custom Shop also does the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic models, which are brought over from neighboring Warren, Michigan to be outfitted.
