FIAT might not be a strong performer in North America, but it continues to prove why it’s one of the most iconic and reliable names in the global marketplace. Celebrating its 125th anniversary, the Italian brand sold over 1.2 million vehicles worldwide, securing leadership in four key markets across three continents: Brazil, Italy, Turkey, and Algeria.
Brazil: Market Dominance on Full Display –
FIAT owned the Brazilian car market in 2024 with an impressive 20.9% market share, translating to over 521,000 vehicles sold. The Fiat Strada was a shining star, selling 144,000 units and becoming Brazil’s best-selling vehicle for the fourth consecutive year. FIAT also led in pickups, hatches, and vans, with models like the Argo, Mobi, and Fiorino dominating their segments.
A notable milestone for FIAT in Brazil was the debut of the new Titano, marking the brand’s entry into the large pickup segment. Combining competitive pricing, rugged off-road capability, and innovative features like a 360° camera, the Titano broadened FIAT’s footprint in a booming market.
Italy: FIAT’s Home Turf Triumph –
FIAT reclaimed its title as Italy’s best-selling car brand, with over 190,000 units sold in 2024, earning a 10.8% market share. The Fiat Panda, a symbol of Italian ingenuity, was once again the country’s best-selling car, accounting for more than 102,000 units.
FIAT also maintained dominance in the commercial vehicle sector. The Ducato led the way, with nearly 20,000 units sold, making it Stellantis’ top-selling large van. FIAT Professional continued to innovate, offering a strong portfolio of electric vans and capturing 16.6% of the 100% electric commercial vehicle market.
Turkey: Leading the Way for Six Years Running –
In Turkey, FIAT recorded a record 11.2% market share in 2024, maintaining its leadership for the sixth consecutive year. The Fiat Egea was the undisputed favorite, with more than 84,000 units sold, cementing its legacy as Turkey’s top-selling car since 2016. The Doblò and Fiorino also played critical roles in FIAT’s success, with the brand dominating the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment.
Algeria: FIAT’s Strategic African Success –
FIAT made major strides in Algeria, achieving a staggering 62% market share with over 64,000 units sold in 2024. The Doblò, Algeria’s favorite vehicle, accounted for 27,000 of these sales. FIAT’s Oran plant significantly bolstered production, establishing Algeria as a strategic hub for its African operations.
CEO’s Reflections and a Look Ahead –
Olivier Francois, FIAT’s CEO and Stellantis’ Global Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), summed up the brand’s incredible year:
