FIAT ended March once again as the leader of sales in the Brazilian market, selling 28,981 units or about 10,000 units more than its closest competitor. As a result, the Italian brand gained 21.4% of the country’s automotive market share. FIAT has been leading the market for the last 15 consecutive months, despite the challenges facing the automotive industry due to the crisis in the supply chain.
Once again, the sales phenomenon of the Fiat Strada sub-compact pickup ended March as the best-selling vehicle with 7,567 units (5.6% of the total market share and beating its own record in the segment, with a 98.7% share).
FIAT’s good result gave the Mobi city car the title of the third best-selling vehicle in March, with 6,581 units sold (4.9% of the total market share). Among the 10 best-selling vehicles in Brazil in March, FIAT also had the compact Toro pickup place 8th with 4,442 units sold and 3.3% of the market share). In addition to those highlights, the all-new Pulse subcompact SUV, the newest vehicle to launch in the market, sold 3,650 units, which corresponds to a 10.5% share in its category.
On March 13th, FIAT Brazil announced the introduction of the 2023 Abarth Pulse. The announcement and launch of a dedicated website for the vehicle brought 80,000 hits on the first day the site went live.
At the end of the Q1 period, FIAT reinforced its leadership in the largest market in South America by adding more than 79,000 units sold (21% overall market share), a difference of around 29,000 vehicles over the second-place competitor. The Strada, which was the best-selling vehicle in 2021, the first time ever for a pickup truck in the Brazilian market, is on track to repeat the feat this year, as it leads the cumulative number of registrations in the country with 21,693 units.
In terms of each market segment, FIAT maintains its dominance as the leader of Hatchbacks (27.9%), Pickups (54.1%), and Vans (43.8%). This result is repeated in the consolidated numbers for the year so far.
