What is SRT working on...?

It would be interesting to compare this Challenger wide body handling package with the 392 (485hp) engine with a Mustang GT(465hp), Mustang Bullet (485hp), and Camaro SS(455hp) in terms of both acceleration and handling.
 
12.5" X 19" wheels with 355/30/19 Kumho tires. Lots more rubber on the road than standard Hellcat widebody. Viper ACR wing, and Viper ACR front brakes, and Bilstein adjustable dampers look to make the Challenger into a handling sportscar.
The car that Wesley Motorsports is running is basically an ACR kitted Challenger. The wing and splitter are the exact same part number. The other stuff is the same, but different to meet the needs and specifics of this car. The ZF 8 speed is flappy paddled I believe.

This car IS fast. It WILL goto the mountain where I expect it to do well. Last year the ZF broke giving them a slower time. They have supposedly addressed those issues for this year—all related to MASSIVE torque, MASSIVE tires, big weight, going up a freaking mountain with the entire driveline at maximum stress.

If you’re going to stress test a car, the mountain is a great place place to expose its weak spots.

Fixed - and my money is on the 1LE, but it would be interesting to see what they can do with the challenger
 
Challengers can handle. This is well know among diehard fans. The Wesley Chally is far better. The parts are all pretty basic speed stuff. The calipers are identical to the ACR. They are running brake cooling duct work from the front. Rotors were stock Redeye, now they are Pagid (iirc). The arb’s are stock. Poly bushings everywhere.

It has full adjustability. The trickest thing on it is a billet upper front A Arm, and special adapter on the front lower control arm. Rear is stock, it with a specialized doohickey to enable adjustment. If there is production intent, seeing the front upper control arm could give it away. If so, the billet one would be replaced with a production looking unit. If anyone goes to watch this thing, try to get into the garage and get a pic with the front tires off. The tires are flat out straight up stream rollers. Only the Bugatti rolls with more rubber (and not by much).

This car would make an excellent GT3/GT4 car. I know that the team has considered (on some level) going to Trans Am with their Viper ACR-E (SGT/GT3) and this car (GT/GT4).

Both would be slayers.
 
They are running 345 Toyo gum balls. The only thing ACRish that is missing is a rear diffuser. When you see the up close videos of it, it is truly a monster. I mean 800hp, and enough torque to alter the earth’s rotation, STOCK! There aren’t a ton of race cars up at that power level. That puts it in a pretty lofty place.

If you remove the hybrid power unit from an F1 engine 1000hp-160hp=840hp from the ice, and you do the math it works out to about 680ft-lb at 7000r/m, and about 730ft-lb at 10,500r/m. Basically, a Redeye at full chat is making nearly as much power, as the worlds most expensive cars.

Oh, and if you’re going to track only your Redeye, Mopar has a Plug-N-Play, Engine-In-A-Box for you that produces just as much HP, and even more torque (less peak, but more RMD torque (flatter curve), than an F1. (Yes, I know, efficiency, weight, blah, blah, blah).

Still no word from SRT on what, if any skunkworks projects are under wraps. It’s weird. I usually have the slow trickle of hints and clues, but for like four of five months my people just shrug when I make inquiries.

Considering you (Muther) said that the later Le-Mans program might've been a smokescreen for testing the Viper ACR's aero, I wouldn't be completely surprised if the Wesley Motorsports Chally is more than it seems.

IIRC it was. They said they couldn't open the hood for those who wanted to check the engine bay because the Redeye engine was in there. This was before the Redeye had come out.

You could put some multimatic DSSV shocks in one, like the gen5 Z/28 had and the gen6 ZL1 1LE has along with some sticky rubber - that would go a long way. Weight will then be an issue, as crazy as the gen5 Z/28 was (LS7 427 power) it got beat by the gen6 SS 1LE.

I don't think the 19 ram hemi has an aluminum block - I do know that you can get 392 and 426 aluminum 3rd gen hemi blocks from Mopar though

Well, if I have the right team...it was at Carlisle last year and was stated as being the Redeye in plain site.

In just over a month I will be there again. Hope to get a chance to check it out.

I am in the minority for sure but I wish the challenger would just keep going on as it is...and keep getting better as it has.

2019 Ram 5.7 Hemi is not aluminum block. You may be thinking of the cummins, which switched to CGI to save some weight.

They could, but I don’t think there would be a need. At least not yet. If somebody wanted one, just go to Wesley Motorsports. Talk to them. They would tell you what parts they are using. Everything is a purchasable part: shocks, rotors, calipers, brake ducting, splitter, wing, hood, deck lid, racing seat, roll cage, racing seat, etc.

The transmission is flappy paddled.

The only exception is the custom front upper A-Arm, and the adjusters on the lower front control arm, and on the rear. Those are all billet, CNC’d pieces. They might make you some, for a price.

The car, as it sits, is easy to build, y a shade tree mechanic, in a weekend. Given the current interest in Mopar Road Racing (tens of people), I’d say they’d first have to build a business case.

Wesley was for sure part of the development of the Redeye. Lots of people also suspect they are doing this mystery road course Chally. What they would be doing would include: durability testing (what fails and when), what parts to use, album most of all settings. Developing a knowledge base of settings for various racing situations would be vital for such a car.

I also know that Wesley has talked to Trans Am. This car would go into the GT class (GT4 clone class), or possibly the SGT class (GT3 clone class).

Speaking of which, all Vipers are legal for both classes (except the GTLM/GTS-R’s of Riley Motorsports).
