What is SRT working on...?

There are Chargers and various Challies being devolved by SRT. We all know about the WB Charger, and it will certainly have the Redeye engine.

There is also a well founded rumor of a Challenger “handler”. Nobody knows what it will be called, but from what I gather (and what I know) ACR would be a very good way to describe it. From what I heard Corvette ZR1/Viper ACR-E/911-GT2 RS were the targets. It will have more horsepower, and LOADS more torque than any of them. It will also have 1000 additional pounds. If it does come out I expect it to be as dedicated to its task (track slayer) as the Demon and VACRE are at theirs—Three or fourway Bilsteins, pizzaplate Brembos, bracing, carbon fiber sprinkles, splitter, winglets, Viper’s Xwing, diffuser, etc. From what I heard it is tearing up tracks. My info is somewhat unreliable, though. From what I heard there isn’t a Camaro or Mustang on the planet that can touch it. What I don’t know is production intent. No clue. I just know the SRT guys are playing with some very fast Challengers.

The vehicle I am seeking knowledge of isn’t anything like that. I have heard inklings, and whispers. Nothing of substance. Nothing to indicate what it is?

My current guesses, and they are guesses, is a car to replace the hole the Viper left in the marketplace, related to the Maser GTO or the Alfa 8C. The “Not-A-Viper”.

Or, something smaller, and cheaper, essentially, Ralph’s much wished for “Baby Viper”. From what I have heard about the output of the inline 6 this could make sense. The inline six is very powerful indeed.

A truck of some type. I know there were AWD/4WD, and RWD Rams running around with Hellcat engines (or Redeyes), but those coulda been mules of various types for various dead end reasons.

After that I’m out of guesses.

Also, the 426 is from what I know coming, in Challenger first, and then the Charger, and at some point I suspect in Ram, too. I expect the 6.4 to get a power boost; the 5.7—I have no clue about that.

Now it is officially the weekend but no news.....................................

One of the vipers pluses was affordability. I don’t need to blow the doors off of everything, I would like FUN and ENGAGING and AFFORDABLE.
I would like dodge to give younger buyers something fun they can buy.
Please dodge don’t make a viper junior, but a baby viper. Miata/124/i6 dodge?

Wouldn’t that be too much work for a model that is changing in a couple of years?

Having a Miata sized car with a I6TT will be an overkill, but a fun one.
But I think the I6 will be a little too large for the engine bay.

Most people taller than 6 foot have a very hard time fitting inside Miata.

Is whats announced on the front page now?? About FCA design cars and coffee tomorrow???

Thought the I6 was supposed to be electric accessories and as compact as a v6 lengthwise? Either way, Miata it’s not set up for a 48 volt system. Real answer is I’m not in the market for one anyway and my armchair engineering degree is a little out of date

You guys need to read the front page of the site lol...

As for a Challenger that would essentially be an ACR? No, there is no crash testing to do (tmk), there is no engine recertification work to do, there is only the suspension, brake, and aero work to do, and much of that work could already be in process…

They did the whole Viper ACR project knowing full well they were killing the Viper shortly thereafter.

I would love to see a Challanger ACR. With Viper,Vette as a target. No back seat, optional pass seat, strut tower brace front and back, huge tires (widebody would be necessary) and of course lighten it up. how? That's a good question. That is what I was hoping the challenger T/A would of been.

Also Ralphs baby Viper is what they do need. Small back to basics 2 seat sports car. Kind of what the Viper originally was. Either the TT I6 for a showcase or blown Hemi

I will spice this... The same guy works or had worked on many different projects including:

Progetti
  • Maserati
    gennaio 2019 – Presente
    M189 M240
  • WL SRT
    marzo 2018 – Presente
modellazione sulle sospensioni del nuovo progetto WL SRT ( Grand Cherokee)
  • 949
    Stelvio
  • 952
    Giulia
  • 961

Love these ideas but one way to lighten up the Challenger is by using carbon fiber materials. They could use a carbon fiber hood, roof, trunk and some other pieces to get the weight down. It would drive up the cost a lot but in the end I think it people would be willing to buy one.
