This is what pisses the hell out of a lot of us.
When the brand’s CEO keep repeating the next generation Charger and Challenger are BEV only.

Actually he didn’t say BEV only:
“We’re certainly not launching with anything like that. We’re launching full battery electric”
He stated not at launch.
It going to be a stage, stager rollout.
 
There is a narrative that must be followed. Everyone must tow the party line, especially the executives. Anything that the SAE has said or done concerning the electrification of automotive vehicles has been memory holed, electrification is being defined as any electric motor assist such as mild hybrid, full hybrid, and plugin hybrid. In addition range extended, fuel cell, and pure EVs fall into the electrified category. Those who control the narrative want only pure battery electric power trains. The SAE road map towards vehicle electrification and fossil fuel reduction has mysteriously vanished because the "experts" have spoken and pronounced their decry.
 
I6 is already a crate engine that makes 550hp
 
And I can’t wait for the 1000hp version. That thing is going to be a monster.

The I6 is better than all the V8s but the hellcat and I would not define Hellcats as affordable. SD I6 takes the same gas as the Eagle and the HD 91 Octane like the Apache.

I understand that both have tons of tune room. Especially more than Eagle and apache.

So the question remains what even without considering E assists of PHEV or BEV.
Are you Willing to pay more to be slower, heavier, more expensive, worse handling, more thirsty to have 2 more cylinders and throaty exhaust?

BEV is not a bandwagon it’s being mandated to half the US population and more than you can count countries around the world, it’s dumb AF but it’s the reality. The I6 is badass by itself. Right now there is nothing faster the Performance EVs
6.4, yes I'd stick with it even if the current electric vehicles ran circles around me. If anything less performance than 6.4, say less than 450 hp., then no. But even then, the electric 'revolution' in its current(pun intended) format is not for me and for reasons previously mentioned.
If Mopar was to make a V-8 with less performance than the 6.4, I'd take the new I6 and be content. And based upon your comments it having more room modification/improvements. If Mopar made a V-8 with same or more performance, and was around same price as today's LX's , then yes, I'd stick with it.
No wish to start a riot, but I once owned no less than three versions of the '86-'87 Buick v-6 Turbo cars. I spent less than $25 and took it from 9.60's to 7.70's at local the eight-mile drag-strip(the ''receipt' to do this was at one time all over the internet; I also took it down National Trails Raceway with 12.38, 12.39 and 12.40 e.t's at 108-109 mph. Was mostly off the line power spooling the turbo up.
And, yes, I've had Mopars in the past as well that I loved and miss now.

Awesome.... I don't believe you but awesome..... I am not the one to convince.

Now get about 10 to 20 more thousand people to write a check. Be honest that you are aware you're the next SXT driver but at a Premium and that you fully understand it will be in all aspects a worst product but are willing to pay more of the Nostalgia of a V8.
 
Here is a legit option for Mopar...... should instead of trying to certify and crash test a Nostalgia model..... instead through DC develop all the engine swap components? It would give the builders something to do you could swap GEN2 thru Gen3 Hemis.... and even set up for future Hurricane4 swaps to the HurriCrate6

Please set the criteria you mention: How much slower. How much heavier. How much fuel-thirstier?

No, if just making a V-8 just to make a V-8. No wanna-be performance vehicles please.
Yes, if making normally asperated north of 450h.p.+, or, even something like 300+hp. with electric assist with cumulative hp. 500-600+hp.

'My Dodge dream future' would be to have options such as the I6 Hurricane as a base engine with 400hp.-ish; a V-8 making around 450-ish HP. with electric assist producing around 600+hp., and then the B.E.V.'s taking the hp. into the stratosphere.

I still feel that there is a strong market for V-8 performance now and for the future. I just somehow feel Dodge may be missing out on a portion of the market and walking away this time? I don't know exactly why I feel this way this go-around.

Am just hoping there a way for them to produce a V-8 option that meets CAFE standards(as the competition is doing) and be profitable?

Maybe I'm totally wrong about my beliefs. But I believe in Dodge; I believe they can do it and be successful.

SO go look the new ICE option is a lighter more efficient engine with potential in the mid 1000s yes 1000s

Why do they need to squeeze a bit more out of the Gen3 and make it compliant?

Nostalgia only... The Hurricane is a beast out of the box pun intended

So, Eagle old classic it has maybe 420 in it .... still less powerful, still less torque, still more parts, still fragile head. Apache maybe 550 still heavy still thirsty.

Here you have brand new ICE engines with ton of tune ...... honor the past in the current model.

I been hearing you will be able coax 600 with ECU tuning, CAT3 fiddling with fuel and boasts. That it comes read to mod.... the CATX is purpose built race engine but that it starts at 1000 and moves up is exciting.

To safe the earth and environment, they wanted to get rid of fossil fuel, but they have no problem causing mining issues to extract the rare earth metal and sea bed and naval life is one of them.

really all this needs to be pushed back until silicon batteries are ready... it's like Mercury vapor debacle on steroids when the proper solution was right around the corner.

According to a November 2021 article:

Average fleet fuel economy:
GM = 21.5 mpg
Stellantis = 21.6 mpg
Ford Motor Co = 22.7 mpg.

The 49 mpg average mandate for 2026 is ridiculous. Personally I have not really been tracking this sort of thing until Dodge put V8 on the chopping block.

The new Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards require an industry-wide fleet average of approximately 49 mpg for passenger cars and light trucks in model year 2026, the strongest cost savings and fuel efficiency standards to date. The new standards will increase fuel efficiency 8% annually for model years 2024-2025 and 10% annually for model year 2026. They will also increase the estimated fleetwide average by nearly 10 miles per gallon for model year 2026, relative to model year 2021.

You can see the importance of the ~15% improvement from the I6 over the hemi.
