Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) Nitro Teams Ready to Dominate In FL

Inaugural SCAG PRO Superstar Shootout: A High-Stakes Invitation-Only Drag Racing Event...

While the 2024 National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Mission Drag Racing season is set to begin with the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals scheduled for the weekend of March 7 – 10, this weekend a special event will see some of the best teams in the sport competing for significant prize money.

The inaugural SCAG PRO Superstar Shootout presented by Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage (JHG) is an invitation-only race featuring standout drivers from the Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Super Stock Eliminator categories. In collaboration with the Professional Racers Organization, Drag Illustrated, Bradenton Motorsports Park, and FloRacing, the event will offer $1.3 million in total prize money, with $250,000 being awarded to both the Top Fuel and Funny Car victors.

So it’s no surprise that the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) Nitro teams will be represented by 12-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Leah Pruett and the defending NHRA Funny Car Champion Matt Hagan. This will mark the only time in 2024 that Leah will be piloting a top-fuel car, as she will switch seats with her husband Tony Stewart, while she focuses on starting a family.

Both TSR Nitro teams will carry the colors of JHG, a familiar sight to fans on Hagan’s car.

Pruett highlighted the importance of such a significant purse, stating, “A huge purse like this shows that not only these racers and PRO see the vision, but that substantial companies do too, and they’re putting up the money where their mouth is, and that speaks volumes.”

With a unique format that includes a random chip draw determining elimination pairings, the adrenaline is bound to be pumping for both drivers. Hagan emphasized the challenge, noting, “Your first round could be your hardest round. There are no easy draws, and you want a heavy hitter every time.”

The event promises an electrifying atmosphere for fans, with live streaming on FloRacing.com, access to pit locations, autograph sessions, and live music. It’s not just about the race; it’s about the experience, and Pruett and Hagan are ready to deliver.
