The Ram Rampage, a popular compact pickup truck in Brazil, is set to expand its lineup with a new, more affordable variant for the 2025 model year. The new addition, the Rampage Big Horn, introduces several changes to make the truck more accessible while maintaining its robust performance.
Introduction of the Big Horn Model –
The 2025 Ram Rampage Big Horn will be the entry-level diesel variant of the Rampage series. This new model is anticipated to be the most affordable pickup truck with a diesel engine in the lineup, appealing to a broad range of customers. The least expensive diesel option is the Rebel 2.0 TD, equipped with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine and priced at R$254,990 (or about $50,000 USD). The Big Horn is expected to be priced competitively, making it an attractive choice for budget-conscious buyers.
New Engine and Performance –
A major highlight of the Rampage Big Horn is its new 2.2-liter turbodiesel I-4 engine. This engine produces approximately 200 horsepower and delivers substantial torque in the 45 km (about 28 miles) range. One of its key benefits is its ability to provide torque at lower speeds, enhancing driving performance, particularly in challenging conditions. The Big Horn will also feature a ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive (4×4), ensuring versatility and capability on various terrains.
Features and Specifications –
The Rampage Big Horn will forego some advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) found in higher trims to keep costs down. Notably, the model will lack radar-based systems, as evidenced by its simplified bumper design. Despite these omissions, the Big Horn will still come equipped with a range of standard features:
- Comfort and Convenience: Digital air conditioning, electric steering, power windows, power locks, alloy wheels, Full LED headlights, and a RamCharger (induction cell phone charger with cooling).
- Safety: Seven airbags, traction, and stability control, start assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and ABS brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD).
The exterior design of the Rampage Big Horn will include a chrome-contoured grille, black finishes on elements typically found in the Laramie trim, and a chrome skid plate. The side profile features 17-inch wheels with a dark finish, though the final production version may vary slightly in wheel finish. At the rear, the truck will sport a chrome bumper with parking sensors.
Interior and Technology –
Inside, the Rampage Big Horn will offer a practical and functional cabin with seats covered in synthetic material and premium fabric. The interior color scheme will include gray tones on the panel and door linings. The truck will maintain a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 multimedia system, which supports Android Auto™ and wireless Apple CarPlay, ensuring modern connectivity and entertainment options.
The 2025 Ram Rampage Big Horn is poised to capture a significant share of the Brazilian pickup truck market by offering a more affordable diesel option with a new 2.2-liter engine. With a balance of performance, essential features, and value, the Big Horn is expected to meet the needs of a diverse customer base while contributing to Ram’s continued success in the region.
