2025 Fiat Toro Gains More Power with New 2.2L MultiJet Diesel

More Horsepower, Torque, and Better Fuel Economy

The 2025 Fiat Toro, one of Brazil’s best-selling compact pickups, has just gotten a major upgrade under the hood. Fiat has introduced a new 2.2-liter (134 cubic-inch) MultiJet I4 turbodiesel engine, replacing the previous 2.0-liter (122 cubic-inch) diesel, delivering a significant boost in both power and torque. Available in the Volcano and Ranch trims, this new engine makes 200 horsepower (203 PS / 149 kW) and 332 lb.-ft. (450 Nm) of torque—an 18% increase in power and a 29% increase in torque compared to the outgoing model.

Faster Acceleration and Better Efficiency –

With the new engine, the Fiat Toro accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 9.6 seconds for the Volcano and 9.8 seconds for the Ranch model. More impressive is the mid-range power, as it takes only 6.0 seconds for a 60 to 100 km/h (37 to 62 mph) sprint and 7.8 seconds for an 80 to 120 km/h (50 to 75 mph) pull in the Volcano, ensuring better performance and safer overtaking.

Fiat has also improved fuel efficiency, with the Toro now achieving up to 10.5 km/l (24.7 mpg US / 29.7 mpg UK) in urban driving and 13.6 km/l (32.0 mpg US / 38.4 mpg UK) on the highway. This efficiency has earned it an “A” rating in Brazil’s Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV).

Advanced Diesel Technology –

The 2.2-liter MultiJet engine incorporates cutting-edge technology, including an aluminum head, high-pressure fuel injection (2,000 bar or 29,000 psi), a variable-geometry turbocharger, an air-water intercooler, and a dual cooling system for optimized performance and durability.

Fiat paired the new engine with an updated 9-speed automatic transmission featuring a redesigned torque converter and recalibrated shifting for smoother performance. The differential is now 14% longer, further improving both fuel economy and high-speed comfort. At 120 km/h (75 mph), the engine runs below 1,500 rpm, enhancing refinement and reducing fuel consumption.

Improved Braking and Suspension –

To match the added power, Fiat upgraded the Toro’s chassis and braking system. The front brake discs have been increased from 305 mm (12 inches) to 330 mm (13 inches) for better stopping power. The suspension has also been tuned to accommodate the new engine, providing improved ride comfort and handling on both paved roads and rough terrain.

Bold Design with Unique Trim Details –

The Toro retains its rugged yet modern styling, with distinct design elements for the Volcano and Ranch trims. The Ranch features bronze accents on the grille for a premium look, while the Volcano gets a chrome grille and flared fenders that highlight its tough stance. Both versions offer full LED lighting, up to 18-inch (457 mm) wheels, and premium leather seats with power adjustment.

Smart Features and Connected Tech –

Inside, the Toro is equipped with Fiat’s Connect////Me system, offering WiFi, remote vehicle operations, navigation, and real-time vehicle diagnostics. The advanced multimedia center ensures drivers stay connected while on the move.

A Market Leader in Brazil –

With more than 30 national and international awards for design, quality, and resale value, this latest update solidifies its position as the top choice for buyers seeking power, efficiency, and modern technology in a midsize pickup.
